Everlane Denim Reviews: All the Styles I Own + How They've Held Up Over Time

My favorite brand for inexpensive, high quality denim is Everlane. I love Madewell denim too, of course, but their styles are generally above $100. With Everlane offering all of their styles between $78 and $98 full price, they are an excellent option for those of you shopping on a budget! I now own seven pairs of jeans from Everlane (five different styles) and figured it was time for an update, especially on the pairs I’ve owned for a few years.

Below, you’ll find my updated reviews of all five Everlane denim styles (The Curvy Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Jean, The Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Button Fly, The Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny, The Kick Crop Jean, and The Modern Boyfriend Jean), including information on sizing, fabric content, measurements, how many times I’ve worn them so far (via Stylebook), how they’ve held up over time, and a few ways to style each pair featuring a number of my favorite past outfits! (I couldn’t include every outfit I’ve blogged with my Everlane jeans or else this post would be insanely long! 🤣)

For sizing reference, my current pandemic size in most retailers is XS-S/0-2/25-26 depending on the item. Before the pandemic, I was typically a size XS/0/25. I am borderline petite at 5’4” and have broad shoulders and long arms. I tend to size up in tops for extra room in the shoulders and length in the sleeves. I buy a mix of petite and regular length jeans and pants depending on the inseam.

Everlane shares garment measurements for each item, which I find incredibly helpful when it comes to determining the right size to buy; I recommend comparing the measurements to other items you own and love. Find a list of all of my Everlane reviews at the end of the post!

The Curvy Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Jean is my current favorite pair of denim offered by Everlane (read my curvy denim review and 5 recent purchases mini review)! They’re also my newest pairs of jeans. I first purchased the dark blue wash this past winter. In hindsight, I should have ordered them in size 27 because in Everlane jeans, my preferred size is one size up from my preferred Madewell size. Pre-pandemic, that was a size 26 at Everlane and size 25 at Madewell. Now I prefer a 27 in Everlane and 26 in Madewell! I was happy to snag the vintage blue and white colors in size 27 (ankle length, because I’m short; I love that multiple inseams are offered—ankle, regular, and tall!). I have my eyes on the black jeans next.

The dark blue wash and white definitely feel like a textured denim material while the vintage blue is soft and smooth to the touch. The white jeans fit a touch snugger than the vintage blue in the same size. The pockets in the white jeans are beige, so they don’t show through in the front! I really love this style and would recommend them to anyone that loves skinny jeans and needs a curvy fit. I’m hoping Everlane will keep this style going and add more washes!

Everlane The Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Button Fly in washed black review | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Measurements via website: Rise: 11". Inseam: 26.5". Leg Opening: 10" (size 28).

I waited a long time to order the Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Button Fly jeans (read my original review) because I already had a grey pair and didn’t think I’d like the “washed black” color enough. Turns out, washed black is quite nice, and it’s pretty different than grey! Ha. I love ‘em for a more casual take on black jeans. The button fly is a nice touch, too.

Unlike the black jeans, which I chat more about below, I haven’t noticed much in the way of the color washing out over time. I think it’s because they’re already “washed” (ha)—they are supposed to look like an old and well-loved pair of black jeans. They are softer than my solid black jeans. I wish now that I had a size 27 (#pandemicproblems) but I can still fit into these if I’m not super bloated. I don’t find the button fly to be difficult to do up in a pinch, but there was one incident where I forgot to button the bottom button after using the restroom at work. No one pointed it out to me (obv!) and I noticed it hours later! Oops.

Everlane The Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny in black review | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

My color and size: black, size 26 ankle

Fabric content via website: 77% cotton, 17% modal, 2% elastane, 4% polyester

Measurements via website: Rise: 11". Inseam: 26.5". Leg Opening: 10" (size 28).

Price: $78 (was $68 when I purchased)

Stylebook stats: worn 45 days; $1.51 cost per wear (based on price I paid)

My very first Everlane denim purchase was for the mid-rise skinny ankle jean in fall 2017. They had minimal stretch, and I did not find them comfortable. A year after I purchased those jeans, Everlane released the authentic stretch line. I immediately purchased a replacement pair of black jeans and have owned them ever since! (Read my original review/comparison.)

My Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny jeans started a true black, and they’re just now looking slightly faded—especially around the seams—three years later. I’ve had no issues with anything else! They’re well made, and even though they’re part of the authentic stretch line, they still feel like denim (kind of a rough texture, not as smooth/soft as other stretchy jeans I own). But between the fading and the fact that these do not fit as well as they used to, I’ll likely be replacing them. (These could probably easily be dyed, but black dye makes me nervous!) Ever since I tried curvy jeans, the regular “straight” fit just don’t work for me as well! I do love that Everlane started offering different inseam lengths. I always go for the “ankle” length, which hits me right above the ankle.

The Kick Crop Jean

My color and size: bone, size 25

Fabric content: 98% cotton, 2% elastane

Original price: $78 (no longer available; check Poshmark)

Stylebook stats: worn 26 days; $3 cost per wear

The Kick Crop Jeans (read my original review) were my third pair of jeans from Everlane; I purchased them in February 2018! I never fully loved the fit of these jeans on me; they were baggy around the crotch/zipper when I first got them even though otherwise they fit fine. After my pandemic-induced size change, the bagginess went away but I can no longer comfortably button them up/sit in them. It’s quite unfortunate! I love the style otherwise, and like the white curvy skinny jeans, Everlane used beige front pockets so you don’t see white outlines—love that!

The Modern Boyfriend Jean

My color and size: light blue wash, size 24

Fabric content: 98% cotton, 2% elastane

Original price: $68 (no longer available; check Poshmark)

Stylebook stats: worn 92 days; $0.73 cost per wear

The Modern Boyfriend Jeans (read my original review) were my second pair of jeans from Everlane! Like the kick crop jeans above, I never fully loved the fit of these jeans on me; they had a similar fit issue and were baggy around the crotch/zipper, but these were meant to fit more loosely so I didn’t mind as much. I sized down in these jeans (I’m never a 24) and they fit fine otherwise. I cannot currently zip them up, which I’m super sad about because I still love these jeans! I’ve worn them so much and I’m not ready to part with them yet. I’ll definitely be browsing Poshmark for a new size.
