Wear What You Love

Brown faux fur coat casual winter outfit with sherpa lace-up boots — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

We made it! It’s the last weekend of February and I can confidently say that the majority of winter is behind us (whew!). Now that I said that, it’s going to snow here again, haha. I gotta admit: the end of winter is the most uninspiring for me when it comes to putting together outfits. (Aside from the fact that I’m the most uninspired to put together outfits that I’ve ever been due to the whole pandemic and WFH situation.) I’m ready to jump into spring and can’t; my heart is pulling me towards transitional/warm weather outfits and the weather says NOPE.

Since we’re still solidly in winter, I couldn’t let the season go by without pulling out my beloved OG faux fur coat for an outfit that is basically my dream winter uniform. I may look like a linebacker in this coat but I sure do love it!

I would wear some variation of this outfit every day in the winter if I could/if it were warm enough. Have I mentioned how much I love this coat?! (I do not pull it out if there’s the slightest threat for precipitation! Must protect it at all costs.) I can’t believe I hadn’t thought to pair it with my Marc Fisher Izzie boots with the coordinating laces until now. Add in the olive green cashmere sweater and it’s a color combination made in outfit heaven!

My exact faux fur coat is no longer available, but I found a super similar option and included it in the widget below (it’s a little spendy, FYI). As for the sweater, it’s a newer addition I ordered from Naadam. This is their $75 essential sweater that is a direct competitor to Everlane’s $100 cashmere offerings. I’m in love with the olive green color (and I do already own a sweater in a very similar color but now I have two; they serve different purposes since the styles aren’t the same).

Note to self/friendly reminder to wear what you love now—don’t save your favorite things for that special occasion that may or may not ever happen. As we all now know, anything can happen and that special occasion might never come up. I’m 100% guilty of saving my most favorite/special articles of clothing for days when I know I’ll be around others or if I have some sort of event going on. You know the feeling when you “waste” a nice outfit on a mediocre day? I know that feeling all too well because I’ve been there many times and it’s dumb. If it makes you happy to wear the giant faux fur coat, wear it! (And if you put together a new favorite outfit, repeat it over and over again!) Your confidence will shine when you wear what you love and love what you wear. ✨
