Everlane Reviews: ReNew Teddy Bomber, Belgian Waffle Henley in ReCashmere, Cashmere Scarf, ReNew Slipper

After taking a hiatus from purchasing from Everlane for most of the year, once again their recent fall and winter releases got the best of me! What can I say? They do sweaters (and cozy things in general) so well! If you’re looking to treat yourself or someone else, this post features fun gift ideas. If you’re curious about the Everlane ReNew/ReCashmere lines, this post has that for you, too! If you're new to Everlane and sign up for an account with my referral link, you’ll get 10% off your first purchase, and I'll earn a credit and be forever grateful for your support!

For sizing reference, I am typically a size XS/0/25 at J.Crew, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, Gap, and Banana Republic. I wear a size 4-6 in H&M and its sister stores (depending on the item). For stores that use juniors sizing, such as Forever 21 and ModCloth, I am usually a size small. My Uniqlo size is either XS or small (again, depending on the item). Everlane includes garment measurements for each item, which I find incredibly helpful when it comes to determining the right size to buy. You can find all of my previous Everlane reviews at the end of the post and browse all of my clothing reviews here.

  • Note that my current pandemic size is XS-S/0-2/25-26 depending on the item.

The ReNew Teddy Bomber (ochre, size S)

This is my third purchase from Everlane’s ReNew recycled fleece line (I also own the ReNew fleece raglan sweatshirt and matching fleece sweatpants). This time, I opted for a different color: ochre! (The ReNew teddy bomber is also available in oat and spice. Size availability in all colors is sporadic.) This jacket is a nice layering piece for running quick errands OR for sitting at my WFH “desk” (the kitchen table). I especially love the pockets. I purchased a size small, which was the right choice: it’s cozy and slightly oversized and great for layering thin tees and sweaters underneath. As with my other ReNew fleece items, cat hair becomes intertwined within the jacket. It can’t be stopped; it can only be embraced. Lol.

How I wore it: with a striped tee and olive jeans

Belgian-Waffle Henley in ReCashmere (heathered clay, size XS)

This gorgeous sweater is my first purchase from the ReCashmere collection. I never purchased a ReCashmere sweater from last year (when they were first released?) because if I recall, they were blended with wool, and I’ve developed a wool sensitivity over the past couple of years. When Everlane released the Belgian-waffle henley this year as part of the ReCashmere collection, I assumed it would also be a blend, but this one is actually made from 100% recycled cashmere! I honestly tried to talk myself out of purchasing it (I don’t need another sweater!) but a coupon got me to hit purchase. And… I love it. The heathered clay color is stunning, I love waffle knit everything, and the sweater itself is very soft to the touch. Once I’m wearing it, it feels slightly itchier, but I typically layer a thin top under my sweaters to keep away any itch and keep the sweaters fresher for longer. The sweater is described as being oversized, and I would definitely agree. I’m between an XS and small (more of a small these days) and opted for the XS here and it’s perfect! Have I mentioned I love it? I’m sad it sold out so quickly; be sure to check for returns!

The Cashmere Scarf (black)

I purchased the cashmere scarf last year but decided to include it in this review post because it would make an excellent gift! I’m definitely no expert on cashmere or cashmere scarves in particular but this one is very nice for the price. I wouldn’t consider this a thick cashmere, but it is still nice quality and feels soft. This scarf is a great option for dressier occasions (when those are a thing again) but can also be worn casually as well. It’s available in a variety of different colors!

How I wore it: with a wubby pullover, with a cable knit sweater in the snow, with green and black

The ReNew Slipper (black, size 7)

I’ve not ever formally reviewed a pair of Everlane shoes before, but that’s mostly because I’m unable to wear most of their styles (they tend to run narrow and I have slight-above-average-width feet). The only other pair of Everlane shoes I own are the day crossover sandals, and those are absolutely wonderful!

Anyway, I was intrigued by their recent ReNew slipper releases and decided to order a pair because I’ve worn my current pair of slippers down so much over the past eight months of working from home (whew!). the ReNew slipper comes in four colors: ember (burnt orange), sage (light green), parchment (cream), and black. I thought all of the colors were gorgeous but I ended up being boring and sticking with black so they went with more of my outfits (and by that I mean matched my black leggings that I wear on repeat, haha).

The ReNew slipper is made from recycled nylon on the exterior and recycled polyester (a fluffy fleece lining) on the interior. The fleece inside every exterior color is cream-colored. Out of the box, the slippers are comfortable. They do fit true to size, but I have to disagree with Everlane and suggest that you size UP if you are a half size (maybe size down if you have narrow and flat feet?). I consider myself a true size 7 and the back of my heels touch the edge of the slipper. If you have high arches, the part of the slipper over the foot (does that have a name?) might feel a little snug and indent into your feet. I do not find them to be breathable and my feet do sweat a little bit in them.

Overall, I’m glad I bought them to serve as an alternate to my current slippers!
