Currently: Late Fall Textures | December 2021
Happy December, friends! It’s hard to believe we’re in the final month of 2021!!! I have a feeling this month is going to FLY by, and I am not prepared for it haha. I always wish the holiday season could last a little longer. But! The college gymnastics season kicks off in January so you can bet I’m looking forward to that! I used to HATE January and February (I still do, but mostly because the weather sucks and it’s cold) but now I have something to look forward to.
Our weather lately felt like a rollercoaster there for a while, but now we are under a “death ridge”—temperatures are mild (yay) but the air quality is not great because there are lots of pollutants trapped near the surface due to the stagnant air. We might get some relief next Monday! Fingers crossed. I’m not too mad about it because I have been putting off the purchase of new winter tires for my car; if we don’t get a snow storm for a while, that’s fine with me!
The mild, dry weather is perfect for wearing my black faux fur jacket over the ABLE Mae drapey tee (such great quality!) and baring ankles. I’m loving the variety of textures in this outfit: wool baseball cap, faux fur jacket, denim, and patent leather. Textures instantly elevate any outfit!

decorating: nothing…YET! I plan to decorate for the holidays no later than this weekend, but we won’t be getting our tree until mid-December…first, we’re going on vacation!
feeling: so many things—mostly overwhelmed with how much work I have to get done before the end of the year. I’m excited for the holiday season and vacation and gymnastics season! I’m worried that I’m going to forget something for our trip; it’s our first out of the country in over two years, so I’m a little out of practice. I’m also feeling worried with news of the new variant.
sending: Christmas cards, eventually! We’ll be taking family photos (with the cats!) at home once our house is decorated after vacation and will send cards out after that. In the past, I got the photos printed and included them in cards for family. That way our family can display it, frame it, whatever! Works out well and is pretty cheap, plus I can do it all myself and mail ‘em out in time (ideally…we’ll see what happens this year haha).
smelling: currently, chili that Korri just made. YUM! We love making a big batch of chili for dinner and eating the leftovers all week (normally for lunch, but I think it’ll be our dinner for tomorrow, too). It’s so good as a topping on baked potatoes!
wrapping: only one gift so far—I purchased a gift for my mom and step dad and got it wrapped so I could give it to them while they were here for Thanksgiving and avoid the shipping charge. I have gift ideas for Korri but am struggling with gift ideas for the rest of my family! I’m leaning towards doing something more experience-based, like gift cards to restaurants and other local activities. I’m trying to limit the amount of crap I give my families and only stick to useful things and/or consumables! Do you have any favorite experience or consumable gifts to give or receive?
