A Fluffy Cloud of Faux Fur

Marine Layer black faux fur bomber jacket casual winter outfit — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

The first time I laid my eyes on this faux fur bomber jacket in the Marine Layer catalog, I knew it had to be mine. I couldn’t bring myself to pay full price on it, but luckily it went on sale over the holidays and I scooped it up! Faux fur, especially in coat form, always makes me feel like a celebrity when I wear it. Know what I mean? Is that weird? Lol.

Other than this new faux fur bomber, I also own another faux fur coat! I wrote in that post how high maintenance my faux fur coat is/how much I baby it and that’s why I only had the one…well joke’s on me, because now I have two!

It’s not too often that I have those really strong, “love at first sight”-type moments with articles of clothing. And with something as unpractical as this jacket (it’s not a super warm winter weight, it’s not easy to clean, the dark color will show cat hair like crazy), I try really hard to push those feelings down because my brain is wired to think of practicality first. I’m always thinking in terms of how many outfits can I make, how many times do I think I’ll wear it, how many seasons can I wear it in, etc.

But sometimes, I’m still thinking about an article of clothing over a month later and I decide to go for it. That was the case with this bomber jacket! (It also got rave reviews, which definitely aided in my decision.) Sometimes you just need to inject a little bit of fun in your wardrobe. Note to self.

This faux fur bomber jacket is one of—if not the—softest article of clothing I own! It feels like I’m wearing a cloud. I love it so much. It was perfect to wear on my first outing of 2021—stopping by our local record store to check out their post-holiday sale. I can never leave that place without purchasing another vinyl record to add to the collection! I planned this outfit around that trip (it’s the little things these days), and I feel like the faux fur jacket + shiny pointed boots combination captured the record store vibe.
