If you look really closely, you can see the dusting of snow we got the morning these photos were taken. It’s funny to look back on these because the very next day, it snowed about 4-5 inches at our house! Even though this dusting was technically the first snow of the season, it wasn’t nearly as memorable as the snow dump we got the next day…haha! I guess it’s time to say goodbye to fall now. :(

By the time the real storm arrived, I was so happy at my past self, because I woke up early on the weekend and got my tires swapped on my car (winter tires make me feel so much better about driving in snow). I got it done just in time! Korri and I ran a bunch of errands while my tires were being done; we got new LED lights for the Christmas tree (which we will get this weekend, since the snow kind of kept us from getting it) and we shot outfit photos with downtown as the backdrop. It felt so cold with a fresh layer of icy slush on everything! I definitely needed a coat; a cozy flannel shirt and vest were not enough to keep warm.

P.S. Did you notice that I left my hair tie on my wrist (without me mentioning it)? I’m too much of a perfectionist when it comes to outfit photos, so I about lost my mind when I realized I left my hair tie on for the whole shoot. I’m curious to know if you would have noticed or if it’s just a thing only I can see because I’m so nit-picky!

Layers: the name of the game now that it’s officially meteorological winter (and boy did winter show up in a big way this past weekend). I’m not really sure what to do since I still want to wear and shoot two more outfits for fall, and now we have snow and freezing temperatures. HA. I hate how short fall feels. But, I will allow the snow to stick around until Christmas day…after that I hope it melts. ;)

Anyway, do any of you go to West Elm for their free Holiday Card Photo Shoot? We went last year for the first time—mostly because pets are allowed, so we brought our cats along! They love it. (Not.) But I couldn’t resist going back this year. I put a lot of thought into our outfits so we all coordinate; last year, my cats had mismatched harnesses, so our outfits were a bit mismatched but still coordinating. This year, I got new grey harnesses with black trim for the girls, so I channeled the same look with my outfit: grey wrap cardigan layered over a thin black sweater with the sleeves cuffed once to show the sweater underneath. Korri wore a thin hooded top with light grey stripes.

We haven’t gotten the photos back, but I hope the photographer got some good ones! I always feel like a hot mess while taking the photos since I have no idea how my outfit/hair/face looks while I’m trying to make sure my cats are looking in the direction of the camera. Haha! Our local store shared a photo of us from last year’s shoot on their Instagram. The cats were busy staring at the dogs standing outside the door. We didn’t see any dogs when we were there this year, so they didn’t really “perk up” and kind of looked lifeless while laying on our legs. I’m so eager to see the photos! Fingers crossed she got some good ones. ;) I plan to print out my favorite photo to send/give to family like I did last year!

Welp, it’s suddenly the last day of November. It’s hard to believe we only have a month left of 2018! Now that Thanksgiving has passed, I’m all in on the holiday season and ready to wear all of my festive attire (which isn’t a lot, admittedly, haha). During this time of year, I’m drawn to all the tartan plaid (my favorite festive plaids are in this L.L.Bean flannel shirt and this J.Crew Factory scarf), my two red sweaters, luxe textures (corduroy, velvet, and faux fur), and sparkle from my head down to my toes.

I love pulling out my gold flats at any time of year, but it’s especially fun to wear them in December—as long as it’s not too cold or snowy! I wore them in late December last year with one of my plaid flannel shirts and my green corduroy pants. This time, I opted for a lighter, less literal iteration of a casual outfit for the holidays. I’m not typically drawn to a lighter color palette at this time of year, but I loved how this simple look came together. Can’t go wrong with an Everlane sweater paired with Everlane denim. ;) And I looove high-rise denim because I can wear all the cropped things without an extra layer!

I think my favorite part of the look (other than the shiny gold flats!) might be the waves in my hair—I don’t have those very often! Unfortunately, my hair does not hold curl unless it’s kept in braids for a while (and I can’t French braid my own hair, so it’s always only half wavy, haha). This is what the waves looked like the next day. On day two, the waves are still there but are noticeably more unruly. I’m planning a post detailing the (few) products I use on my hair and my hair care routine soon! I’ve been trying to improve how my hair looks…it’s definitely a work in progress.
