Grana Reviews Potential Closet Staples: Jacket, Shirt Dress

I'm back with another round of Grana reviews! Once again, I've partnered with Grana for this post (I picked out items to review, but they did not pay me for this post; of course, all opinions are my own). This time, I picked out some potential closet staples: a silk bomber jacket, a silk sleeveless shirt dress, and a flannel shirt dress (with long sleeves!).

For sizing reference, I am typically a size XS/0 at J.Crew, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, Gap, and Banana Republic. I wear a size 4-6 in H&M and its sister stores (depending on the item). For stores that use juniors sizing, such as Forever 21 and ModCloth, I am usually a size small. My Uniqlo and Everlane size is either XS or small (again, depending on the item; see my Everlane reviews here and here). Like Everlane, Grana includes garment measurements for each item.

I love bomber jackets, so picking this jacket was a no-brainer! I had a hard time deciding between black or navy, though. I ended up going with black because I thought I would get more wear out of it. I got my usual size XS which fits slightly small. The arms are a bit short, and I can zip it up fine, but the shoulders are snug. I would size up if you have broad shoulders like me. Otherwise, I love the cropped length for wearing with skirts/dresses (and high-rise jeans as shown here). My favorite part is the smooth feel of the fabric, unlike my other silk pieces (including the dress below, which is more textured than smooth). It feels luxurious! It's fully lined on the interior and also features double welt side pockets (which come sewn shut).

I also had a hard time deciding between black and navy in this dress. I originally was set on navy until I really thought about it, and I figured I'd get more outfit options out of the black dress. I love how this dress is simple but still appropriate for many different occasions. I got my usual XS, which fits well! It's ever-so-slightly tight in the bust. I also like the tie to add shape. The length is great, but the shorter sides may be too short for some workplaces. Like my other silk items, it's prone to static. I lathered my legs in lotion to keep it from sticking, but I could still feel the static on top (though it didn't cling that terribly). The collar is snug but not uncomfortable when the buttons are done up completely. It's fully-lined and not sheer at all.

I picked this dress because I've been wanting a dress with long sleeves for cooler days. This dress is literally like wearing socially acceptable cozy pajamas. I got it in my usual size XS and it fits fairly loose through the body, so the belt (which is removable) is a nice touch to add shape. It has side pockets, which is great but they do add bulk around the hips. The sleeve length is a touch shorter than I would prefer on my long arms, and the shoulders are slightly tight. I do like the length, though. It's worth noting that it does not button all the way to the bottom, so there is a bit of a slit in the front that may make it inappropriate for workplaces. The material feels substantial and warm. This is a great option if you've been in the market for a long-sleeved, cozy, pajama-like dress! (I may have gotten a dress that was cut strangely since it looks uneven along the hem from the back.)
