When Grana released their new Turkish denim a couple of weeks ago, I knew I had to place an order to give it a try myself. I had just come across blush jeans at Madewell and was too excited to see that Grana also had a blush pair in their offering—and for such a reasonable price! I ordered a pair to try along with a couple of other items I wanted to check out: a pima v-neck tee (to compare to my v-neck tee from Everlane) and a light wash denim shirt.
If you are new to the brand and sign up using my referral link, you get 10% off your first order (and I get a credit). Shipping is a flat fee of $10 unless you spend $75, in which case it's free. Returns are also $10 (or free if you opt for store credit). They ship DHL, so your order arrives in two days, but be aware that you may need to sign for the package. NOTE: For April, Grana is offering free returns to U.S. customers. I placed this order a couple of weeks ago and received a USPS return label to a U.S. address. (It'd be awesome if there was always a U.S. return address available! It wasn't clear if this is going to be the new return process going forward.) It could take a few days longer for them to receive and process the return, though, so keep that in mind.
For sizing reference, I am typically a size XS/0 at J.Crew, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, Gap, and Banana Republic. I wear a size 4-6 in H&M and its sister stores (depending on the item). For stores that use juniors sizing, such as Forever 21 and ModCloth, I am usually a size small. My Uniqlo and Everlane size is either XS or small (again, depending on the item; see my Everlane reviews here and here). Like Everlane, Grana includes garment measurements for each item.
Pima V-neck T-shirt (white, size XS)
As I mentioned above, I picked this tee because I have Everlane's version and wanted to see how Grana's version compared. The fit is comparable; this tee is slightly longer than Everlane's, but my Everlane tee shrunk a bit when it was washed. The Everlane tee also seems a touch looser. The sleeves are slightly longer here as well. I wish the tee was a bit shorter because it's kind of an awkward length on me and isn't the easiest length to tuck. I'm not sure if the neckline will curl like it did on my Everlane tee, but I guess we'll see after it's washed. I did, however, notice that this tee doesn't seem as sheer, and I think it's because it's slightly heavier than the Everlane tee. The price is the same so it's a great value. I still prefer the fit of their box cut tees (reviewed here).
Grana's measurements: bust 31.9", shoulder width 13.2", length 25.2", sleeve length 6.4"
My measurements: bust 31.5", shoulder width 13.125", length 25.5", sleeve length 6.675"
Denim Boyfriend Shirt (stone and bleach wash, size XS)
I have been wanting to try a slightly different long-sleeved chambray shirt, so I decided to try one from Grana (debating between this denim shirt and their chambray boyfriend shirt). I ended up going with the denim boyfriend shirt because I preferred the lighter wash and how the buttons matched the shirt instead of being white like on the chambray shirt. The fit of the XS is really good on me. The sleeves are a good length and the shoulder width isn't too tight on my broad shoulders. The length is longer than I would prefer, but it's still a great shirt. I love that it's not heavy at all! It's actually softer than my other chambray shirt and doesn't feel like normal denim to me. It's a nice weight—not too heavy/structured or too soft.
Grana's measurements: bust 40.2", shoulder width 16.1", length 28", collar 14.2", sleeve length 22.2"
My measurements: bust 39", shoulder width 15.25", length 27.25", collar 13.5", sleeve length 22.25"
Turkish Denim High-Rise Cropped Skinny Jeans (blush, size 26)
I placed this order mostly because I was dying to try these jeans! Madewell released a pair of blush skinny jeans that I put on my wish list, and when Grana released their own version, I had to try their's since I wasn't quite sure that they would work for me and they were less expensive (only $59).
I have to say—these jeans are amazing! I never tried their Japanese denim skinny jeans (though I believe the denim shirt above is made from their Japanese denim), so I didn't have anything to compare it to except my other denim brands. These fit true to size and surprisingly well (I'm normally a 25 in Madewell denim; I measured my high-rise pair which most closely corresponded to a 26 in these, so that's what I got). They didn't even bag out anywhere after wearing them and moving around for a full day. I've yet to wash them, but I don't plan to tumble dry them just because I don't tumble dry any of my jeans.
The rise is quite high on me (up to my belly button), but they don't dig in at all! I find them more comfortable to sit in than my Madewell high-rise jeans. The only things to note are the length and the color. Clearly these aren't cropped on my borderline-petite self, but I don't mind—at least they aren't too long! The color, however, is pretty close to my skin color. Some people thought I looked naked (my brothers), others didn't (my roommate and my boyfriend). I still think I look naked sometimes, lol. I'm hoping it won't be so bad once I have some summer color. They are awesome and I'm definitely considering a second pair in a different color!
