Grana Reviews: Pima Joggers & Pima Waffle Boyfriend Crewneck

Many of you know by now that I'm a fan of Grana, which has a similar transparency model to that of Everlane. I was recently contacted by Grana asking if I would be interested in choosing some items to review. Of course, since I adore the brand, I happily agreed! I chose the silk cashmere oversized tank, the cashmere boyfriend cardigan, and pima joggers. All three of these items happened to be included in their No-Markup Sale that started shortly after my items shipped, which is great for you if your size is still available! The day after my items shipped, they released the pima waffle boyfriend crewneck sweaters, and I couldn't resist ordering one for me and a matching one for my boyfriend using my credit. For sizing reference, I am typically a size XS/0 at J.Crew, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, Gap, and Banana Republic. I wear a size 4-6 in H&M and its sister stores (depending on the item). For stores that use juniors sizing, such as Forever 21 and ModCloth, I am usually a size small. My Uniqlo and Everlane size is either XS or small (again, depending on the item; see my Everlane reviews here and here). Like Everlane, Grana includes garment measurements for each item.

Silk Cashmere Oversized Tank (light heather grey, size XS)

I picked this item because it looked like a great layering basic for the cooler months, and I was curious about their silk cashmere blend. As the name suggests, this fits slightly oversized in my usual size XS, but it drapes really nicely. I like that it doesn't hug my curves. The light color is slightly sheer, but with the right bra it's hardly noticeable. The blend is soft and silky as you would assume, but it is very staticky, and wrinkles are relatively difficult to iron out if they set in—and it wrinkles fairly easily since the fabric is thin. This tank has sadly sold out since it was included in the No-Markup Sale, but they also have a silk cashmere oversized tee and silk cashmere oversized crewneck sweater.

I've mentioned before that I wanted a long camel cardigan, so I thought I would give this one a try. I also wanted to compare Grana's cashmere to Everlane's cashmere (which I own and love). I debated between an XS and a small in this, but after studying the size chart for a while, I decided that the XS would be oversized enough for me. Even though I'd prefer it if it were just a couple of inches longer, I overall like the fit on me. I was worried about the arms being too short, but they're actually just right. The cashmere is soft, but I don't think it's as soft as Everlane's. I think it is priced well for the quality (whereas Everlane's is also priced well—slightly more expensive but also slightly higher quality). It's great "entry-level" cashmere if you will. I'm interested to see if it holds up as well to washing. Also, I believe this cardigan is from a past season and they may have updated the cashmere this season.

I picked the pima joggers because I am in need of "nice" loungewear (you know, loungewear I could wear out of the house if necessary, haha). I'm not so sure yet if you'll be seeing these in any outfit photos. ;) I ended up getting my usual XS, and they fit exactly as I expected. They're comfortably loose in the legs (though not as loose around my calves). They're extremely comfortable and feature a drawstring at the waist, slanted front pockets, and a single back pocket. As with my other pima items, the quality feels nice and sturdy. Note that these are not fleece-lined. Also, Chris has the same pants and says that nothing changed with them after being washed (though he hangs them to dry).

I have a weakness for waffle knit, so I couldn't resist ordering this sweater the day it was released. As I expected, it's wonderful! The knit is thick and soft. It's slightly oversized in my usual XS. I wear it with the hem folded under because it kind of ends on a weird place on me (over my hips). The navy seems deeper in person than shown online. It's also not a completely tight knit—you can kind of see the "holes" in between, but it's not that noticeable. I absolutely love this sweater and highly recommend it if you're in the market for one. I would only recommend not wearing it around cats because claws could easily snag the knit (and, you know, cat hair...). I got my boyfriend the same sweater in size medium and it fits him oversized as well, but not sloppily so. He typically wears a size medium or large in tops. Note that this sweater should not go through the dryer (I assume it will shrink).
