Since starting my job, I've been on two official "business" trips: the first one was a two-day trip to Denver for training, and the second was a quick trip to Seattle for all-day meetings late last week. (Did you catch my Insta story?) The trip to Seattle consisted of a flight at 6 am, taking the train into downtown, meetings for about seven hours, and then taking the train back to the airport and getting home at 9:30 pm. It was a long day, to say the least!
For my Seattle trip, I had the challenge of dressing both comfortably for the travel and somewhat professionally for the meetings. I didn't want to look sloppy, but I also didn't want to be constricted by my clothes on the plane. The night before my trip, I pulled out this old layered-look sweater, my stretchy black blazer (structured and comfortable!), a couple of pants options (this burgundy pair and my black ponte pants), and three boot options (these taupe boots plus two pairs of black boots). I ended up gravitating towards the burgundy pants since I worry that my ponte pants can look too much like leggings (even though the sweater does have more of a tunic length). I also grabbed these taupe boots instead of a pair of black boots like I would normally pick. Black boots were the easy choice, but I've been wanting to challenge myself to wear the taupe boots with more than just light colors. I love how it came together, and I'm surprised by how much I like the light boots with the rest of the outfit. I think the burgundy pants create a "smoother" transition between the dark top half and light shoes.
My Longchamp 'Leo Pliage Neo' tote proved to be the hero of the day, as usual. I didn't have a laptop with me, so there was plenty of room for snacks, a notebook, and my reusable water bottle. I even had enough room to bring a couple of cupcakes home. ;)
