Let's Talk: What are your comforts?

We are in the thick of the holiday season craziness right now. Much like last year, I’m not really feeling the holiday vibes this year. I displayed my nutcrackers a few days ago, but there are no other decorations up. We got our tree last week and Korri got the lights up over the weekend (normally I do the lights but I truly didn’t care this year) and there are no ornaments on it yet. And I still have gifts yet to buy. I’m just feeling very BLAH, which is annoying because I have always loved the magic of the holiday season. It (usually) brings me so much comfort!

There are so many ways to think about comforts. For example, I’m definitely someone that likes to stay in my comfort zone even though I know it’s important to leave my comfort zone and enter a growth zone every once in a while. Sometimes I need to do things that scare me. Comforts are also things that keep me grounded. They’re tiny actions I take, things I indulge in, and small moments I focus on to help me get through the days.

Today, I wanted to get a little personal and chat about some of my comforts. Please share some of yours in the comments! Do we have any in common?

Let’s Talk: What are your comforts?

Here are 20 things I consider my “comforts”—these are little things that make me happy and that bring me comfort. This list could go on for a while, but I tried to think of a variety of things. Some are holiday-season specific, some are specific to winter, and some are comforts of mine all year round.

  • Fleece jackets

  • Writing with smooth ball point pens

  • A warm chai or hot chocolate

  • Treating myself to Dutch Bros

  • Changing into joggers or sweatpants after working in the office

  • Climbing into bed

  • Trying to read in bed (can never stay awake lol)

  • Sleeping in without cats waking me up

  • Pulling items out of the dryer when they’re warm

  • Putting my feet up

  • Nordstrom Bliss Plush Throw Blanket

  • Drinking Mexican Coke or Sprite

  • Being surrounded by Christmas decorations

  • Seeing Christmas lights

  • Happy endings in books

  • Cuddling with my cats

  • Eating any variety of potato (except sweet)

  • Wearing a large puffer coat

  • Cozy socks

  • Eating all the holiday season candies and baked goods

I could go on and on and on! What are some of your comforts during the holiday season or at any other time of year?

BRB, gonna go cozy up under a blanket with my cats while staring at our lit-up Christmas tree, which I’ll hopefully find the motivation to decorate this weekend. 😅
