Happy first day of meteorological summer! May was…a month. It was full of highs and lows. We had a significant amount of measurable snow in mid-May that broke a lot of tree branches around town. The primary election happened, and while we successful prevented some extremists from securing the Republican nomination, there were others that did win their race. (Because Idaho is so red now, the Republican primary is more important than the general election.)

Korri got me out of the house and into the foothills for a couple of hikes. The flowers are absolutely gorgeous at this time of year—like even more than usual—and I wonder if part of it is because of that snow we got. I always require some post-hike ice cream (or pre-hike if the ice cream shop closes before we start our hike, haha). Right now I’ve been obsessed with this strawberry sorbet flavor. Oh, and one of my favorite brunch spots closed. Ugh, that one still stings. I hate seeing local restaurants being forced to close because their rents are doubling or tripling. 😩

I joined Anne’s currently link up this month to share what else I’m up to right now!

Currently | June 2022

celebrating: the little things, including setting up an auto transfer between my checking and savings accounts so I can finally start building my savings. I’m also celebrating the start of meteorological summer today, and recently, a friend from high school visited! (She was an exchange student for a year at my school. I visited her in Vienna in 2016 and she finally made it back to Boise this year!)

giving: away things in our local Buy Nothing group. It feels so good to clear the house of things we don’t need, but I still have a long way to go. I may have mentioned this before, but if I had the money, I’d totally hire a professional organizer to help me go through the rest of the house and get it looking nice and organized! It just won’t ever get done if it’s just Korri and me working on it.

taking: more time for myself…(or trying to). That means more lounging on the couch watching 90 Day Fiance marathons, reading, snuggling with my cats, stretching, working out and less doomscrolling on every social media app (easier said than done).

trying: (and failing) to understand why a large portion of this country (and an even larger portion of our politicians) STILL think that guns supersede your right to life. JFC.

wearing: a WIDE variety of my closet still thanks to the rollercoaster temperatures we’ve been experiencing as of late! Some days, it’s a tank top and shorts…other days, it’s a wubby pullover and fleece pants. We’ve had 90 degree temps following by 40s and rain a few days later. Boise is not a place you want to do a full closet swap; you still might need some winter things until the end of May!
