Link Love, vol. 28

Happy Friday! Korri and I are both sick, ugh. A few days ago, we were in Los Angeles (finally used the free flights I won on Alaska Air) to attend the Seahawks at Chargers football game (go Seahawks!), and then we spent some time on the beach before heading home. It was a lovely little trip but now we are both down for the count. So far, we have been testing negative for COVID on our at-home tests… Fingers crossed we don’t have it…

The week before that, we flew up to Seattle for the day to watch the Mariners in ALDS game 3! ICYMI, the game went to 18 INNINGS!!! We basically saw two full games, lol. We actually had to leave mid-18th to catch the last flight home to Boise. I shared a lil recap of our trip in an Instagram reel! It’s been a busy couple of weekends and now we are being forced to slow down this weekend. Do you have any fun plans? I keep forgetting it’s Halloweekend!

What to Wear to an Interview in the Fall | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Link Love, vol. 28

  • Yesterday, I interviewed for a new job! It was my first interview in over five years! It’s at the same place I work now but the position is higher ranking (the manager of my group). I honestly didn’t think I would apply until literally everyone at the office told me to (along with all of my family/friends and everyone on IG, lol), but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to at least get some interview practice. I think it went well, but it was honestly hard to tell! I listened to a bunch of podcasts to help me prep and my favorite was Interview Boss, hosted by two Australian sisters—one of them in HR. She also offers 1:1 interview coaching calls (didn’t have time to take advantage). Listen to it here!

  • I’m very intrigued by the idea of 5 year plans as someone that cannot commit to making a 5 year plan (whether it be for my career or for my blog!), haha. I loved reading Rebecca’s 5 year career plan and her process as a professor aiming for tenure! This is a great read if you’re also in academia or on a similar career path.

  • Today marks the start of the Taste of Downtown Boise (formerly known as Dine Out Downtown Boise), which features specials and reduced-price fare from a large number of local restaurants in downtown Boise! It’s a great way to try a bunch of different restaurants at a discount. It’s going on now through Sunday, November 6th. (Many of these local restaurants are included!)

  • Are you shopping for the holidays yet? I am! I’ve already got a couple of gifts taken care of, too. Whoop! My favorite fancy olive oil brand, Brightland, is finally offering their Artist Capsule in mini sizes—this would make the PERFECT gift for that hard-to-give person (or people) in your life! I love all four flavors: lemon, basil, chili, and garlic.

  • Looking for your next cashmere sweater? I shared reviews of four of my favorite affordable cashmere sweaters! I just got my first Universal Standard cashmere sweater (the $100 version) and plan to update this post soon. The short answer is that it’s not the softest option at this price point, but the size inclusivity is amazing.

  • Election Day is coming up on Tuesday, November 8th! Have you made your plan to vote yet? Today is the LAST day to request an absentee ballot if you live in Idaho. Go to vote.org to make sure your voter registration is up to date, see what is on your ballot and where your polling place is, then make a plan to vote. And VOTE!!! We cannot be complacent for the foreseeable future. So much is on the line.

  • Taylor Swift released her 10th studio album, Midnights! This album is so different from her past work yet still feels very Taylor...it’s quite raw and honest. It is impossible for me to pick my favorite songs! Young the Giant also released the final act of their new album (American Bollywood) and I love it. Kelsea Ballerini released Subject to Change on my birthday and I loved that one at first listen!

  • I’ve been on a bit of a self-imposed “no buy” this month after spending way too much last month, but here are a few things I have my eyes on: an underwear starter set by Knickey (in dire need of an undergarment update and love their recycling program), a camel-colored alpaca sweater by Quince (their alpaca is amazing—read my review—and I adore this new color), gorgeous dark green corduroy pants by Madewell (in a trendy silhouette), and this fleece cropped hoodie by Summersalt (OMG, doesn’t that look luscious?!).
