I wrote in my spring budget post that I had placed a couple of large orders at the end of last month (thanks to great Memorial Day sales!), and one of those orders was at J.Crew Factory. I had my eyes on a striped midi skirt in particular, but also added a gingham skirt and these wide-leg pants to my order because I wanted to give them a try, since, you know, they were on sale—and we have a store in town so returns are pretty easy.

I was super on the fence about these pants when I first tried them on and shared them on my Instagram stories. For one, they're wide, and I haven't worn wide-leg pants in...I don't even know how long. Maybe ever? This may be the first time wearing wide-leg pants in my life. I'll have to ask my parents to confirm or deny that claim. ;) They're also cropped, which is fine in theory but combined with the wide-leg silhouette, I wasn't sure how to feel about them. They also got mixed reviews from you all on Insta stories, but by the end the "yay!" crowd topped the "nay" crowd. I had decided to keep them before the end of the poll, though, and I wore them the next day to work as shown here.

I tried these on initially with this plain white t-shirt and loved it so much that I wore it the rest of the evening (and then the next day to work). I realized that I love these pants, as long as I don't stare at myself in the mirror for too long. That's when I start second guessing them, haha! They're incredibly comfortable for a full day of activities and I'm happy I decided to hold onto them. Now I need to plan a few more outfits with them! And maybe I'll try branching out with the shoes... I'm not sure if I want to wear them with flats, though; thoughts? Am I too short to wear these with flats instead of heels or heeled sandals?
