Happy winter solstice to my fellow Northern Hemisphere-ians! It’s the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. I for one am very glad that the days will get longer now. It bums me out that Christmas marks the start of winter; having a little bit of extra daylight every day helps me get through the rest of winter! (That and collegiate gymnastics. Haha!)
I’m trying to channel all of the festive holiday vibes right now, and nothing in my closet screams luxe holiday style quite like my faux fur coat. I love it so much! Sometimes my impulse purchases actually end up being good decisions, haha. Of course, I had to pair it with my red cashmere sweater and a pair of velvet ankle boots.
I was unsure about these Madewell beauties when I first pulled them out of the box a couple of weeks ago, but they grew on me and I am excited for a pair of boots that isn’t one of my go-to colors. These will be fun to style! I think I hesitated because ideally, I want everything in my closet to be relatively classic and be kept for years, but after doing this blogging thing for a few years and tracking my closet, I learned that that’s not realistic. I have a rotating closet, and that’s okay. It’s okay to enjoy something for two to five years and then let it go. It’s a delicate balance.
Anyway, I’m feelin’ the color palette of this outfit, and I especially love how the boots look like a darker version of the coat. The colors don’t match exactly, but they go together. This outfit gives me all the holiday vibes without being too obvious about it!
