Amazon Favorites to Shop During Prime Day

Alright, y’all: Amazon Prime Day is coming up on July 11 and 12, 2023! (I do not understand why it’s called Prime Day yet the event is two days long, lol. I know it used to be one day only and now it’s two. Anyway…) If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can score discounts on tons and tons of Amazon products during those two days. Sometimes the discounts are pretty good, and sometimes they appear to be good but aren’t really any different than normal price. Keep an eye out for Lightning Deals—they’re short-term discounts on specific products and are available while supplies last!

I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest fan of Amazon, but I am still a Prime member (I use the Prime Reading feature and also love the Amazon First Reads program). I do end up browsing the Prime Day sales every year and can usually find a couple of things to buy. In honor of Prime Day, I decided to round up 15 favorite Amazon products! These are all products I’ve loved and would repurchase again. I highly recommend any of them—keep your eyes peeled for discounts! (I like adding items to a wish list and quickly searching to see if there are any price reductions.)

Reusable High Fidelity Earplugs

Korri bought us these reusable high fidelity earplugs to take to concerts and we both LOVE them. They work really well at protecting our hearing without missing anything; it just reduces the noise level rather than cancelling anything out. I can still hear everything perfectly (even when the artist or talking or people are talking/screaming around me, haha). It’s pretty amazing how much of a difference they make; if I take them out mid-show it sounds UNBEARABLY loud. Protect your ears and get yourself some earplugs! The clear outer shells make them look almost invisible. They come with different sized earbuds depending on your ear canal size.

Wooden Pant Hangers

I use these wooden pant hangers for pants and skirts and love them! The hook swivels a full 360 degrees. The sides where the clamps live are adjustable so they work for pretty much any size except small kiddo sizes. The clamps do leave slight indentations in soft fabrics.

Mosquito Repellant Wipes

I first ordered these mosquito repellent wipes for our trip to the Cook Islands for my birthday a few years ago (can’t believe how long ago that trip was now!). We needed to bring mosquito repellant since the Cook Islands are tropical, but I didn’t want a bottle of it to take up space in our liquids bags. These mosquito wipes are DEET-free but worked really well for us on that trip! They last for around four hours give or take. I now bring them on any trip where there may be mosquitos or other pesky bugs. (I brought DEET wipes on that trip too and never used them!)

Candle Wick Trimmer

You might be wondering why I included such a boring product…well, for all of my candle burning, I never owned a wick trimmer until recently! I finally ordered this candle wick trimmer and love it. I don’t know why it took me so long, lol. If you’re like the old me and still attempting to trim wicks with regular scissors (or just lighting wicks without trimming them at all), do yourself a favorite and ordered yourself a wick trimmer.

Kindle Paperwhite

I actually own a different Kindle that isn’t a Paperwhite, but if something were to happen to it, I’d absolutely replace it with a Kindle Paperwhite! I’ve been using a Kindle for years and years (I still have my first one but Korri surprised me with a new one a couple of years ago) and LOVE it. If you’re still reading physical books and wonder if you’ll like a Kindle: you probably will. I love it because I can put TONS of books on it (more than I can ever read), it’s small and easy to travel with, it’s lighter than most hardcover books, it’s easier to hold than a physical book, and I read a lot faster on it. Plus, you can borrow eBooks from your public library via Libby and put them on your Kindle (and use the airplane mode trick so they don’t leave your Kindle when the loan expires)!

Travel Toiletry Bag

You may recognize this travel toiletry bag… I wrote a whole blog post dedicated to it and how I use it! It’s one of my very favorite Amazon purchases and recommend it to everyone. The medium size bag is perfect for most trips (it fits a quart-sized liquids bag). The hook is great for hanging it within easy reach in the bathroom, especially if you have a very small bathroom with little to no counter space (like a cruise ship bathroom). It can also expand to fit a ton of toiletries and other travel necessities!

Camera Memory Card

A camera memory card is not a super sexy purchase by any means, but if I’m in need of extra memory for the DSLR camera, I shop for one during Amazon Prime Day! I always get the most storage space available so I don’t have to worry about running out of space. As with any electronic item, the price decreases every year. Couple that with the deals on Prime Day and you can snag memory cards for not a lot out of your pocket. That’s definitely the best time of year to shop for one (you can also compare prices at other retailers that may be offering similar discounts to compete with Amazon).

Portable External SSD

Like a memory card, a portable external SSD is not sexy, but if I need one, it’s another purchase I make during Prime Day to snag it at a major discount. I have multiple external drives (a couple HDD and a couple SSD) because I have a ton of photos and I’m worried the older drives will fail. Korri has a bunch for his Xbox, too. I feel like you can never have enough! Plus, like I mentioned above, the price gets better every year; you can get a 1 TB SSD for less than $100!

Footwear Traction Device

I bought these footwear traction devices for Korri and me for our Utah national parks road trip back in March. These fit over your hiking boots/shoes and have spikes on the bottom to cut into ice and snow. They worked perfectly for hiking in the slush and snow at Bryce Canyon National Park! They’re not totally slip-proof (especially in the slush), but they did help me feel more secure. I got a size S for me (I wear a 7) and size L for Korri (he wears a 9.5 ish); I went up a size each according to the size chart to account for us wearing hiking boots, not sneakers. I recommend putting these on your boots while you are wearing them—you’ll have much better leverage and an easier time!

Vanilla Chai Powdered Drink Mix

Mini story time: I met my Instagram-turned-IRL friend Bri for coffee and drank my usual choice, a chai (blended). She told me what brand the chai was, and I immediately went home and ordered this giant tin of vanilla chai powdered drink mix so I could enjoy it whenever I wanted! It’s funny, I don’t think I’ve ever actually made a drink with this mix…sometimes Korri makes blended chais for both of us (with boba!). It’s so yummy; this is definitely the superior chai mix that I’ve tried. It also comes in a spiced chai flavor if that’s more your thing!

Dry Erase Weekly Planner

Korri doesn’t work a regular schedule, so I got this dry erase weekly planner to keep track of his schedule every week as well as write down anything else we have going on (concerts, events, birthdays, appointments, travel plans, trash day, wet cat food day, Green Chef day, etc.). It works well when I remember to use it! I bought these multicolor dry erase markers with the planner to organizer each item on the calendar into themes. The seller also offers a monthly planner!

Yeowww! Catnip Toy

My cats are absolutely obsessed with the Yeowww! catnip toys. That’s the most potent catnip product I’ve been able to find! I picked the banana for the collage, but they also have a couple of cigars and a rainbow. As soon as it’s broken open by claws or teeth (Sybil is the one that destroys them), I toss it so the catnip doesn’t leak everywhere (the curved catnip toys seem to break easier than the straight toys). They have a couple of toys that have lasted years now and still get used! Rosie likes licking them and rolling on them. Sybil will bite them occasionally, haha. They can smell the catnip through the package when I order new ones!

Velcro Cable Ties

One thing you may not know about me: I have a weird obsession with cable management. I hate seeing a tangled mess of cables. If I can, I will organize them! I purchased this package of velcro cable ties and use them to keep my work-from-home setup organized. I also use them on my chargers when traveling! Since they’re velcro, they’re not permanent and can be reused. They come in a lot of different colors if you want to separate cables/items into categories!

Waterproof Hiking Boots

I have a pair of hiking sneakers and was looking for a pair of hiking boots (for the ankle support and for hiking in snow) when I came across these waterproof hiking boots. They were around 40% off when I purchased them in the light brown color with red laces. I LOVE THEM! I took a chance and wore them for the first time when we hiked Bryce Canyon (with the above traction devices in the snow) and they were so comfortable and (luckily) didn’t require any break-time time. I was shocked by how great they are! I recommend a half size up to allow room for wool socks.

Bamboo Plastic Baggie Organizers

I love a good unnecessary organizer that doesn’t really do anything except look good (and bring me joy because it looks good and makes me feel more organized, lol). These bamboo plastic baggie organizers look so much better sitting in your drawer than the regular ol’ plastic baggie boxes. Korri even likes them, so I call that a win!
