I definitely have a spring in my step now that spring is here! The trees around my house are budding, I’ve seen flowers start to make their annual appearances, and the afternoon sun feels warm for the first time in a few months. (Perhaps we can thank Daylight Saving Time for that last one?) It’s also the season of random and unexpected brief rain showers—we got sprinkled on right as we started shooting this outfit, and Korri and I were both so confused because there wasn’t a rain cloud above us! We both thought it was a bird dropping bombs on us at first. Haha! ‘Tis the season, I suppose.

My Spring 2021 Uniform

Is it weird to think that this may be the best outfit I put together all of spring? I mean… I hope it’s not, purely so you’ll come back and read more posts, HA! But I just love every element of this outfit. I hope it’s not too early for me to say this is my spring 2021 uniform because I have dubbed this outfit my spring 2021 uniform.

This is an outfit formula I’d wear any given day: a top with some sort of interesting element (here it’s a textured cardigan) + jeans (looove Madewell’s demi-boot jeans in lieu of skinny jeans) + sandals (opted for rich color and texture). My coordinating bag is the cherry on top! This is exactly my type of color palette, too; it’s luxe yet simple. I’ve repeated this one a lot over the years.

It’s not often that I wear cardigans as tops; the Deville cardigan from Madewell is the one of only two I wear as a top because of the buttons! Now that I think about it, I’ve only worn this cardigan as a top and never as a cardigan. Something about the buttons and the slightly cropped, boxy shape lends itself to be perfectly top-worthy. (I’ve also worn it with leggings for road trip travel/hiking and with light wash denim. I’ve worn my chunky knit cardigan from Everlane as a top over black skinny jeans!)
