Playing Dress Up: 2 Ways to Wear the Vetta Capsule Lace Button-up Blouse

Even though I miss taking regular outfit photos, I haven’t taken the time to plan (and wear) real outfits and shoot outdoors like I used to. I realized that now would be the perfect time to shoot downtown or anywhere there’s normally people because not as many folks are out! I plan to get back out there soon, but in the meantime, I’ve been playing dress up at home with some new items I added to my wardrobe recently.

First up is the lace button up blouse by Vetta Capsule! I’ve had the small business feels since the pandemic started, so I took it (and a sale) as an opportunity to try a new-to-me brand. Vetta creates capsule wardrobes of garments that are responsibly made and, of course, versatile—each capsule consists of five items that can be mixed and matched into at least 30 different looks! The lace button up blouse is part of the Elegant Capsule, which also features a wrap sweater, trouser, long-sleeve lace dress, and midi dress. I was tempted to also order the floral midi dress but figured it was best to start with one item to determine fit and go from there.

You may have seen on Instagram that I put together an outfit with the blouse, and that outfit inspired me to put together an outfit for work, too. So, here are two outfits featuring the blouse—one for work and one for play. I haven’t gotten the chance to wear these outfits out yet since I’m still staying home as much as possible, but I hope to wear them someday! Until then, I plan to keep playing dress up with other items in my closet, and I hope that this serves as inspiration for you to play dress up, too.

FOR WORK

I’m doing a little bit of continuing education with my A Cloud A Day book! 😉 This is an outfit I’d wear to work. I’m a fan of the loose-loose outfit silhouette as it warms up, because, when it’s hot out, the fewer things that hug my body, the better! Wide leg pants are fabulous for their comfort and yet they still look pulled together for the office. I added the gold sandals to play up the sweetness of the lace blouse and tied it all together with statement earrings. The blouse is see-through where the holes are, but you really can’t see my bra through it, so that’s great news.

The lace blouse can be worn as shown here with the high crewneck in front and v-neck with buttons in back, or it can be worn in reverse with the v-neck and buttons in front. I tend to prefer crewnecks over v-necks, which is why I chose to wear the blouse like this, but it’s nice to have the option to wear it the other way. For reference, I purchased a size XS.

FOR PLAY

When I got this blouse, I pictured it immediately with a pair of denim shorts and my brown floppy hat. It’s got a little bit of a bohemian vibe, so I wanted to play that up a little bit. I love wearing heeled sandals with shorts, so of course I had to add a pair of those—and I went with a beige pair to keep the focus on the top half of my outfit.

This would be a perfect outfit to wear to a patio date or to the weekend farmers market! At the market, it’s usually chilly in the morning but warms up quite quickly in the sun, so the long sleeves would keep me warm at first while the shorts would cool me off later. I’d likely swap the crossbody for a tote if going to the farmers market so I could carry all my goodies home without needing a plastic bag!
