Self-care Favorites from Sephora

Self-care favorites from Sephora / Spring Savings Event — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Self-care has become a bit of a buzzword in recent years, but the sentiment is especially important right now as we deal with a new (albeit temporary) normal. For me, self-care mostly revolves around food (lol) and means allowing myself to indulge in extra carbs or sweet treats. It also includes things that actually take care of my body and mind, like doing yoga, going for a walk, and playing with some of my favorite beauty products.

Sephora’s Spring Savings Event is happening now—a great time if you’re wanting to stock up on a few self-care essentials! These are a combination of products that I’ve used and loved and some that I’m planning to try soon. Insiders receive 10% off their purchase (with a couple of brand restrictions), and it just requires that you sign up for their rewards program. The code can be used multiple times, too! (VIB and Rogue members receive a slightly higher % off for spending more in a calendar year.) The sale ends for Insiders on Monday, April 27th. (FYI, this post isn’t sponsored. I just wanted to share some of my favorite products since I always devour posts like this on other blogs when there’s a beauty sale!)

  • Face masks / I used to do a face mask maybe once every few months, and now I’m trying to do one once a week or once every couple of weeks. I love the simple $6 Sephora sheet masks (pearl, rose, lychee, and aloe vera) and want to try them all. For the past two Christmases, I’ve purchased face masks as gifts to Korri and myself: the Farmacy brightening sheet masks (Korri loves this one) and the wildly indulgent SK-II facial masks (which I purchased on sale because $$$). We do those face masks together every once in a while. I also have a sample of Farmacy’s Honey Potion hydration mask to try soon.

  • Face scrub / I don’t exfoliate often, but when I do, it’s with the Fresh Sugar Face Polish. About once every week or two, I use it after washing my face in the shower and leave it on until the end! It makes my skin feel so soft and smooth.

  • Moisturizer / This is probably the single most important thing I do for myself, especially since my hands are so dry from all the hand washing! I have lotion stashed all around the house, including the First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream. At night, I occasionally like to use the Kiehl’s midnight recovery concentrate on my face for extra hydration. It feels like a special treat on my skin.

  • Lip care / You all know how much I love and wear my Dior Lip Glow in pink! I’ve gone through two of these tubes now (I’m so happy I didn’t lose them 😂). I also love the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in rose, and First Aid Beauty lip therapy is great for something simple.

  • Hair care / I’m not doing my hair much these days, but if it needs a little pick-me-up, I use the Verb Ghost Oil. And if needed between washes, I’m a fan of the Living Proof PhD dry shampoo!

  • Nail care / I’ve been picking at my nails more now that I’m extra stressed. I use a glass nail file to make them look nice again; I prefer these way more than the sandpapery emory boards! They also last way longer. The glass nail file I keep at home is one I’ve had since 2007 or 2008! (I bought this particular nail file, which is not currently available, to take to the office eventually. Stalk this page to see if it comes back; I snagged mine after a few months of waiting.)

  • SPF / We all know that it’s important to stay sun safe if you head outside to decompress. I like to dust Tarte’s Tarteguard Mineral Powder Sunscreen on my face, neck, and arms (or whatever part of me is exposed) before going on walks and short hikes.

  • Fragrance / I recently realized that just because I’m at home doesn’t mean I don’t have to smell nice (haha). This is the perfect time to use fragrance, especially if it lifts your mood! I have a bunch that I rotate between, and Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy is my most recent addition.

I haven’t quite decided what I’m going to purchase, if anything. I bought some more face masks a few weeks ago when Korri needed a restock of his favorite shampoo/shower gel/bubble bath combo that he uses in the bath. I am running low on dry shampoo and also might restock the products I use regularly from The Ordinary (this brand is excluded from the sale). I’m still working my way through my existing products as part of my “use it up” challenge for 2020. It’s been going well so far, I think! I’ve gone through a number of products and have started going through all the samples I’ve been holding onto for no real reason. (Please tell me I’m not the only one that does that? Ha! 🙈)

Products I’d like to try: a face mist (this always seemed like a pointless product to me but lately I’ve been wishing I had something to spray on my face in the middle of the day to revive myself) and this Tarte toner. I’m open to your thoughts and suggestions!
