Link Love, vol. 17

2020 is just chugging right along, now, isn’t it? Since it’s already February, I’m currently thinking about what my wardrobe plan for 2020 will look like. I wrote a plan for 2019 and a plan for 2018, and I found that they really helped me stay focused when it came to adding new pieces to my wardrobe. I have been making fewer poor purchasing decisions compared to years past thanks to them! (ICYMI: I wrote about my best and worst purchases of 2019 last month.)

  • Two recent things I love from Andrea of Seasons and Salt: her stick of cinnamon outfit (who knew that, as a longtime grey and black lover, I’d love shades of brown as much as I do) and her “beyond jeans” closet challenge (I should do this but I currently have a death grip on my denim).

  • Did you see that a British Airways flight recently flew from NYC to London in less than five hours?! (So did two Virgin Atlantic flights, but the BA flight beat them.) The flight reached speeds of up to 825 mph! Speaking of planes, no one really understands why they stay in the air (via Scientific American; FYI, this article is long and fairly technical).

  • Have you watched Miss Americana on Netflix yet? It was SO. GOOD. I loved it. I am an unabashed Swiftie so I had high hopes, and it did not disappoint. I also enjoyed Taylor’s interview with Variety magazine.

  • College gymnastics floor routines that should go viral this year (in my opinion): Gracie Kramer of UCLA, Shannon Evans of BYU (her Super Mario routine from last year was a hit), Sabrina Vega of Georgia, and Isis Lowery of Oregon State.

  • Korri and I took a few-week-break from our Green Chef boxes due to lackluster meal options, and we’ve been diving into the world of Buddha bowls. We’ve been making lots of bowls consisting of quinoa, roasted veggies (potatoes, broccoli, bell peppers, zucchini, kale, jalapeño, etc.), beans (garbanzo and/or black), pineapple, avocado, and lemon. (I like to drizzle some olive oil, too.) Tonight we branched out from the bowls and made vegetarian pho with tofu with the Instant Pot—I loved the idea, but the flavors didn’t meld as much as I was hoping they would! We’ll have to try some more recipes to pinpoint our favorite.

  • Out of all social media, the majority of my blog traffic comes from Pinterest! My goal this year is to get better about using Pinterest and (hopefully) increasing my traffic from Pinterest. I need to get away from using Instagram as often; the ever-changing algorithm is killing my posts and I get very little engagement. It’s fun to share photos but I can get too caught up in it at times.

  • I’ve been listing lots of new things over on my Poshmark (with LOTS more to come)! If you’re new to the app, sign up with code HURRICANEKIMI for $10 off your first order! FYI, if you’re an American Express cardholder, check your card offers: you can get $15 off your order of $50+ (including shipping) if you check out with your card—and the offer can be used twice!

  • What I have my eyes on for spring: light wash skinny jeans by Madewell (their Magic Pockets are the BEST), slim leg crop pants by Everlane (lunar green is gorgeous—of course—but I also like the look of tawny brown as a nice, lighter brown for spring/summer), a light tan and white striped tee by Everlane (at least I think the stripes are light tan and not yellow? I’d prefer light tan), a long-sleeve waffle tee by Everlane (oof, I love this basic in all the colors!), and cheetah print loafers by ABLE (Madewell offers a similar option).
