Winter sweaters and statement earrings: a perfect match for either when you’re 1) in a style rut because it’s cold and you’re tired of wearing the same sweaters every day or 2) invited to an event/ outing and want to stay cozy but feel like a little bling is necessary for the occasion or 3) a fan of sparkle on any random day of the week!

I don’t know about you, but if you’re anything like me, you can get in a rut when dressing yourself for the winter. I haven’t quite hit that point yet, but come February, you can bet that I’ll be ready to put away the sweaters and be yearning to wear my sandals again! Mixing up my accessories and jewelry helps my outfit feel fresh, even when it’s the same basic combination I’ve been wearing for two to three months straight. ;)

When it comes to winter events or date nights, I’m pretty much over wearing anything that isn’t soft and comfortable, and that usually means pulling out a sweater. Sweaters read more casual, so I like to jazz them up with statement earrings and necklaces. I have two go-to pairs of statement earrings plus a new-to-me combination that adds even more spice than usual (for me!).

GOLD HOOPS + EAR CUFF

Say hello to the newest members of my (slowly growing) statement earring collection: the short beam hoops and the bold ear cuff—both in gold vermeil—from AUrate!

I knew immediately that the short beam hoops were my style: I’m drawn to simple designs with almost every piece of jewelry I wear regularly. These hoops aren’t your typical thin hoops; they’re a little more dramatic. Luckily, they’re still quite lightweight given the thickness.

The bold cuff was definitely a bold purchase for me. I’m drawn to the look of a piercing in the cartilage but knew I would never get an actual cartilage piercing, so this cuff adds that look without the pain. ;) I did find this cuff a little tricky to get on!

CRYSTAL DROP EARRINGS

I received these lovely crystal drop earrings from J.Crew for Christmas back in 2014 (see them in my December 2014 budget post).

The classic white crystals with gold accents in these earrings mean that these complement any of the sweaters in my closet as well as pretty much everything else I own! I’ve worn them with a variety of different outfits—everything from winter sweaters (as shown) to fancy dresses for nights out to basics tees and shorts.

These are my heaviest pair of statement earrings, so I’m usually ready to take them off after having them on for a while. I don’t tend to wear them all day because of that.

EMBELLISHED DROP EARRINGS

I purchased these beauties from Moorea Seal at the end of 2014 (they were in the same budget post as the J.Crew earrings above!), and they’re still one of my go-to pairs of statement earrings! Can you believe that I only spent $6 on them? *heart eyes*

Black goes with so much of my wardrobe, especially in the winter, that owning a pair of statement black earrings is really a no-brainer. Plus, these are incredibly lightweight for how large they are.

I typically save these for moodier looks that call for a little more drama. Nearly every outfit in which I’ve worn them features at least one black element, and if there’s nothing black then it’s another dark color like burgundy, grey, or navy.
