The week after Christmas and before the new year is kinda weird, don’t you agree? It’s always been a weird one when I had the week off from school (the best part about being in school is all the breaks, TBH), and it’s still a weird one now that I have to work (or take PTO). It’s probably the least productive week of the year, if I’m being honest. So many people are out of town so meetings are pretty much impossible, and there’s not a whole lot of projects or pressing deadlines around this time of year (probably because everyone knows that most people are out of town, ha). Plus, motivation is pretty low when there’s so many things happening outside of work!
I channeled those “in between” feelings a little bit with this outfit featuring socks in between my jeans and boots. It’s been a while since I wore my fair isle socks, and Anna reminded me how much fun it is to wear them peeking out of shoes (I hadn’t worn mine with boots yet). It’s such a fun way to keep ankles warm in the winter! I have to admit that I struggle a bit with what style of jean/pant to wear with exposed socks and tend to go for the looser-fitting pairs so they fit under the legs, but I’m tempted to mimic Anna’s look with skinny jeans. I tend to wear socks over skinny jeans but I like how it looks with the socks under the skinny jeans (as long as the leg isn’t too skinny).
We shot these photos next to ponds that were partially frozen over, and at one point the gaggle of geese swimming in the pond decided to take flight. The sound of them flying out of the icy water was so loud, and I could tell they would be coming right over our heads…hence the funny faces that I just had to include here. ;)
