I jumped on the J.Crew Factory 'Vail' parka when it was 50% off and eligible for an extra 25% off a couple of weeks ago (it had been excluded from every additional %-off promo up until then, so I had to take a chance!). I ordered it in my usual size, even though reviews were mixed on sizing. I decided on my normal size instead of one size down because I have broad shoulders, and I learned that I really hate/don't wear coats that are too small in the shoulders. Turns out, it was the right choice for my shoulders, but it flares out from my body more than I was expecting it to. I decided to hold onto it because the navy really is gorgeous (even though grey would have been my first choice). I'm seriously considering having it tailored a bit in the body. I think it'll be perfect if I do that! One of my goals this year is to really focus on how my garments fit me and to not accept ill-fitting garments.
I took the parka out for its first spin this past week with a very "snow bunny"-esque outfit: cozy cable knit sweater, skinny jeans, brown tall boots, plaid blanket scarf, and a fun beanie to top it all off. We didn't have much snow on the ground at the time, as you can tell! I think this would be a super adorable outfit for Sundance Film Festival, which is going on now. I'd love to go and, you know, actually see a movie, but it's nearly impossible to get tickets. Womp, womp.
In other news, I've been listing more items in my Poshmark recently. I'm trying to be more ruthless and sell the items I haven't worn in over a year or items I don't like as much as other, similar items in my closet. Come check it out if you're interested in shopping my closet! :) I can provide measurements on anything if you'd like. I'll take offers on pretty much anything, and I also offer a bundle discount.
