Back to the Office Style Sudoku: Outfits 1

Today marks the end of my first week back in the office full time. Thank goodness it was a short week! 😅 Here are the first four outfits from my “back to the office” style sudoku. As a little bit of a deviation from my previous style sudokus, I’m grouping the 14 outfits into three separate posts to be published on Fridays for the next three weeks starting today. It’s the first time I’m wearing a style sudoku on only the weekdays and taking the weekends off! Read my thoughts on each of the first four outfits I wore below. OUTFIT 1 • Tuesday, June 1st

Back to the office style sudoku: outfit 1 | casual workwear | what to wear to the office in the spring/summer | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Day 1 back at the office got off to a rough start when I was late for work because I couldn't find my work badge ANYWHERE after just having it a few days prior when I dropped my workstation off. It's somewhere between my car and my house. Where? Who knows. I've looked everywhere and cannot find it. It's so frustrating because I JUST had it. Gah!

Anyway, this week is a scorcher here in Boise, so I started off my style sudoku by wearing one of the outfits featuring the striped short-sleeve tee. I love the loose, airy fit. It was a little ambitious of me to wear my platform sandals on my first day back at the office, but I didn't trip and fall! And my feet didn't get blisters, so that's a win/win. I brought a fleece with me, which was a good choice because the office A/C is still way too aggressive.

I stopped in at Trader Joe's after work and went a little overboard. It was my first time there since before the pandemic, so how could I not?! It's easy to do that when everything is only ~$3-4 hahaha. I highly recommend the ghost pepper chips; I was expecting them to be way spicier than they are! They're super yummy. UPDATE: We bought a second bag on Wednesday that was WAY hotter, so maybe our first bag was a dud. LOL.

OUTFIT 2 • Wednesday, June 2nd

Still can't find my work badge. I’m convinced that the cats hid it from me. (Joking…I think?)

The temperatures are getting even warmer, and even though I'm not dressing for the actual outside world, I did select a skirt as part of my style sudoku so I of course I had to wear a skirt outfit on one of the hottest days of the year so far! The sweater blazer was much appreciated for the chilly office. I'm a big fan of this outfit even if I did feel a little dressed up for my fairly casual office.

Not pictured: A couple of small stains I got on my top/skirt while eating lunch. Sigh. You can't take me anywhere.

OUTFIT 3 • Thursday, June 3rd

Guess what? Still don’t know where my work badge is! But in a hilarious turn of events, I walked into the office Thursday morning and the security guy at the front desk handed me a new badge. How did he know I still couldn’t find it?! I thought it was awesome. And I’m so grateful I have a badge again!

Anyway, Thursday was the hottest day of the week…and the year, so far. We hit a new record high for the date: 103°F (39°C). That is WAY too hot, especially for the first week in June. At least the heat brought along with it a little stormy weather; Boise pretty much missed most of the storms but we did have I think two sprinkles of rain and some wind! And it dropped the temperature nearly 10 degrees, so I’ll take it. Maybe next time we’ll get lucky and get some thunder.

I didn’t want to wear my skirt two days in a row, so I opted for the outfit featuring my floral blouse and necklace instead of a top layer. I did bring my camel cardigan with me, though… the dang office A/C is killing my style sudoku vibes. I love this top! It’s so light and airy, and it’s silk-like without being as fussy as silk. I also survived wearing another pair of jeans for eight hours!

OUTFIT 4 • Friday, June 4th

I’m forecasting this outfit because the post is going live before I actually wear it! I was originally planning on wearing a different outfit today because I didn’t really want to wear my skirt twice in four days, buuuuut I changed my mind after seeing that the forecast high was going to be 96°F! (You might be thinking, “Ew! You stained the top and skirt two days again!” I know LOL. And I haven’t washed either yet…the stains are small enough that you can’t really see them. I’m also a garbage person so it’s fine.)

One thing I love about doing style challenges is I already know what I’m wearing the next day, so I don’t waste time in the morning picking out an outfit. I know the easy thing to do is to pick out an outfit the night before even when I’m not doing a style challenge, but that makes too much sense for me lol. Why make it simple for myself when I can make it difficult instead? Sigh.

ANYWAY. I’m a real big fan of this outfit, which may look familiar to you if you have an extremely good memory; I wore a similar variation spring 2019! That was actually the last time I wore this skirt. Let’s hope I don’t stain my top and skirt even more today…but if I do, it’s okay because it’s the weekend and I can wash ‘em!
