In the winter, I tend to steer clear of the more unexpected or playful outfit combinations in favor of the classics. It's usually too cold to get too crazy, and I prefer being comfy and cozy over "fashionable". I've already talked about how my typical winter uniform consists of a sweater, skinny jeans, and boots, and this outfit is—once again—a perfect representation of that. The color combination of ivory, dark indigo, and brown always works. Add a camel coat and you can't get much more classic than that! I did have a bit of fun with this look and added a pair of earmuffs, though a scarf is consistently a go-to for me (a scarf just didn't look right with this outfit).

Here's a breakdown of why each item is a classic for me:

  • Camel coat — The color goes with everything, and a peacoat will never go out of style. The longer length makes it a little more formal and works well with pants and skirts/dresses. I removed the belt to streamline the look. I've had this coat for a few years now and plan to upgrade it in the next year or so to something a bit more "adult"-looking.
  • Ivory cable knit sweater — I wear sweater 90% of the time in the winter. I got this sweater for Christmas and it quickly became my new favorite. The wool is luxe and gorgeous, and I love how the cable knit extends to the back of the sweater. The length is also perfect on me; it hits at the top of my hips and doesn't bunch awkwardly.
  • High-rise skinny jeans — I talked about these in my winter 10x10, but I'll reiterate the reasons why I love them here. First off, the wash is a perfect dark indigo with no whiskering or fading. Because of that, I can get away with wearing them in more formal situations. This particular pair fits perfectly and I can wear them multiple times without them bagging out. The length hits right at my ankles, making them super versatile at any time of year.
  • Brown tall boots — I don't wear a whole lot of dark brown, but I just can't quit these boots. Even when riding boots aren't trendy, they're still timeless—especially when they don't have any embellishments like buckles, etc. I love wearing these to add a more preppy element to a look. These will have a place in my closet for years to come.

What are your cold weather classics? I'd love to hear! :)
