Uniqlo Ribbed Cropped Sleeveless Bra Top Review + Outfit Ideas

Because I’m a millennial, I remember wearing camisole tank tops with built-in “bras” when I was a kiddo (these “bras” were basically just an extra layer over the bust that had an elastic strap to hold boobs down). I remember them being not terribly comfortable and not really that stylish. I could totally be remembering incorrectly; I wasn’t the most stylish kid LOL. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that tops with built-in bras were making a comeback. I absolutely did not think I would ever wear one again…until I met the Uniqlo ribbed cropped sleeveless bra top!

I loved this top so much that I ordered it in five different colors! (Overkill? Probably!) It’s my current favorite summer tank top. This particular style of top (with the high neck and racerback sleeves) is having a moment right now, and I’m thrilled to say that I’ve jumped on the bandwagon! The cropped length is perfect if you’re petite and/or have a short waist. The thin ribbed texture in the fabric also feels quite modern. I read a bunch of reviews and opted to order a size small, and it fits well without feeling too tight! I also love that they’re machine washable.

These are not your average built-in bra tops: they have the elastic strap around your ribcage, and they also feature shaped cups so it looks like you’re wearing a bra even though you’re not technically. They are MAGIC. And I love that I don’t have to think about what bra to wear with these racerback-style straps! I purposefully avoid buying tops with those types of straps because of the bra situation unless I know I’m going to wear it with a sports bra peeking out.

I own this top in every color except for the orange (it looks more like a red-orange in the product photos) because I couldn’t own just a couple, apparently. There are a select few items that I purchase multiples of, and this top is one of those! It’s such a great basic, and since I recently realized that I reach for sleeveless tops most often in the summer, it’s the perfect wardrobe addition for me. They would look so good layered under an oversized blazer!

I love a good stick of butter monochrome moment in the summer! The off white cropped bra top works perfectly with paperbag-style shorts (or pants). On me, the top is long enough that I have to slightly “tuck” them into the shorts, but I like that I don’t have to constantly adjust it like I would a full length top (bodysuits work great with paperbag shorts and pants!).

I completed this look with creamy ivory leather sandals (my favorite summer sandal style from Everlane!) and a fun floppy straw sun hat to keep the sun off of my face and neck. I’d wear this whole outfit to the farmers market, at the pool, and on beach vacations!

The olive cropped bra top color is a little more on the brownish/yellowish side than I thought it would be based on the product photo, but I’m still a fan of it (though it’s not technically one of my colors). Here, I’ve styled it with one of my current favorite pairs of wide leg jeans! I now reach for wide leg jeans more than skinny jeans, something the me of five years ago would never type HAHA.

I wear these jeans with sandals a lot in the summer, but I decided to go in a different direction and finished the outfit with my white “dad” sneakers (seriously one of the most comfortable pairs of sneakers I own; I wore them to The Eras Tour!) and a coordinating white baseball cap!

This blue color is also not one of my colors but I couldn’t say no to it, lol! It’s such a great color for the summer month and matches my striped lightspun wide leg pants from Madewell PERFECTLY. They were basically made for each other. I need to be wearing this outfit on a beach stat!

I really played up the beach theme by finishing this outfit with my beige wedge sandals (my go-to “nice shoe” for any tropical vacation) and a straw crossbody bag (with blue tassels, of course). I really love how this outfit came together! It’s definitely one I would wear to dinner at a resort in Cabo (…or the Cook Islands, or Hawaii…). It’d also work perfectly for a main dining room dinner on a cruise!

Out of all of the cropped bra tops I own, I’ve been reaching for the gray top the most! The light gray color IS technically one of my colors (I think…!), and it goes with basically everything so it’s easy to style.

I’ve worn this particular outfit a couple of times now: my new pair of cargo-ish shorts, new white (!) Birkenstock Arizona EVA sandals (my first foray back into the world of Birks; it’s been so long), and one of my most recent crossbody bag purchases. I bought it to take with me to Europe but it’s been getting a ton of wear stateside too.

This is a perfect throw-on-and-go outfit if I need to run a quick errand and don’t want to think too hard about what to wear. We all have those outfits!

You can’t ever go wrong with a fitted black top. It’s so sexy and perfect for a night out! Plus, much like the gray top, black goes with everything. I really played with another monochrome look again, this time reaching for my wide leg black jeans (they’re more of a washed black, but close enough). The fitted top paired with a wider leg feels very current. Look at me, attempting to be a fashionable millennial! 😆

I do actually like how this outfit came together. It’s totally something I’d wear to a concert or date night downtown. Boise is casual so this would feel just dressed up enough, especially with a fun lip! I love the snakeskin-print mules for some added texture.
