2023 is a big year of travel for me (mostly because three of my four parents have milestone birthdays), and there’s one item that’s been a mainstay in my packing lists for every trip I’ve taken so far this year (via car, plane, and cruise ship): the BAGSMART black toiletry bag from Amazon. It’s the best for travel!

The Best Black Toiletry Bag for Travel
Before I had this toiletry bag, I had a very disorganized suitcase (and I’m on team #CarryOnOnly as much as possible): my quart-sized liquids bag here, my hair towel there, a bag stuffed with my Luv Scrub tucked over here. There was no method to my madness; I basically just shoved my toiletries wherever there was a crevice in my bag that needed to be filled. I will say that this bag doesn’t fit ALL of my toiletries, so I still have some floaters, but it corrals a lot of the smaller items that used to get lost in my bag. I won’t travel without it again!
BAGSMART Toiletry Bag Review
I purchased my BAGSMART black toiletry bag from Amazon last fall and do not know what I did without it all these years! This bag has over 43,000 reviews on Amazon, and the majority of them are overwhelmingly positive, which is usually a red flag, but in this case I’d have to agree with them.
This bag is water resistant, includes a hook so you can easily hang it in the bathroom or wherever you need access to it, and it fits so much more than you think it can. It’s like magic! It comes in two different sizes—medium and large—I opted for medium, mostly because I don’t travel with large bottles (as a carry-on only gal, I stuff my liquids bag into one of the pouches). It’s also offered in a few different colors, but naturally I went with black. It does have to be lint rolled along with every other dark item/article of clothing in my house LOL.
Inside the bag are four pouches of various sizes, and they all fold into each other and zip up securely. There are two zippers, and they feel substantial. I love the gold accents! There is also a small pocket on the outside. I don’t use it, but you could tuck small items in there (maybe a health insurance card…or motion sickness patches…or whatever else you may need handy).
I’ve taken this bag on every trip since I got it (and I’ve traveled via car, plane, and cruise ship, with train to come later this year 😆) and it’s held up beautifully. I absolutely love the hook, especially if there’s not a lot of counter space in the bathroom (see: cruise ship bathrooms).

How to Use the BAGSMART Toiletry Bag
There are four pouches in the toiletry bag. The top pouch actually has the least amount of space because there is no useable space above the zipper. In that pouch, I put a small bag with a reusable makeup remover cloth and some q-tips. The bottom pouch does have useable space above the zipper, and in that one I put my Luv Scrub (folded in half and then into thirds). I love my Luv Scrub! I really try to wait until everything is dried out before putting it in the bag; I shower at night so typically by morning they are good to be packed up again.
The two middle pouches are the largest and also offer an additional feature: bands inside each pouch so you can securely attach bottles of product and they won’t move around in transit! There are two bands in each pouch: one with space for four narrow bottles/product and one with space for three wider bottles/product.
In the first pouch (the one with one zipper at the top), I stuff in my quart-sized liquids bag. I have TSA pre-check, so I don’t need to take it out at security, but I like having all my liquids contained in the bag just in case I do have to pull it out. It fits perfectly! In the second of the larger pouches (the one with a zipper at the top and a zipper at the top for more accessibility), I put my Aquis hair towel. There is enough space for more things, so I usually also tuck a razor in there.
Like I mentioned above, not all of my toiletries can fit into this bag. I bet I could fit almost all of my things in the large version of this toiletry bag… hmmm, I’m tempted to buy another just to see—LOL. My electric toothbrush (in its case), eyeglasses + hard-sided case, and my terry cloth headband and wristbands don’t fit in the medium bag. I also bring with me a separate small makeup bag with concealer, mascara, eyebrow gel, a comb, hair ties, bobby pins, contact lenses, etc.
