The Easiest Way to Dress Like Autumn in the Summer
I am 100% NOT trying to wish away summer (I want all of the summer thunderstorms, please and thank you!!! — I’m writing this while watching a lightning show outside 🥰) but I can’t lie, I’m looking forward to pulling out my joggers and long-sleeved tops again. I’m feeling uninspired when it comes to putting together outfits, especially work from home outfits. If I took a screenshot of my Stylebook calendar right now, you’d see essentially the same outfit worn three to five days in a row LOL. I’m just trying to get through one day at a time.
If you’re looking for the easiest way to dress like it’s autumn, even in the late summer heat (and possibly even summer humidity, yuck)—since it is still August, after all—this outfit is for you!
The Easiest Way to Dress Like Autumn in the Summer
This is probably a no brainer style tip, but no brainer is about all I can handle right now, especially when it’s as humid outside here in Boise as it is when I visit my grandparents in South Dakota in the middle of summer. We rarely get humidity, so it feels very unpleasant! 🥵
If you’re ready for it to be fall but still need to dress for the heat (and humidity) of summer, just add a lil bit of fall color to your summer outfits! Easy peasy! I absolutely love the rich, rusty red color of this ABLE Mae drapey tee (it’s called “cherry mahogany”—doesn’t that sound so luxe?!), and it’s such a perfect color for fall/winter. Since it’s a basic short-sleeve tee, I just throw it on without another layer when it’s warm out, and it’s such an easy way to start to bring fall into my outfits! Ahhh, I can smell the fall candle burning now.
A tee + shorts outfit is so ridiculously basic, I debated even shooting this outfit in the first place. (This is why I struggle so much with summer outfits! They can feel pretty boring.) The tee contrasts the matching canvas shorts and sandals combination in such a striking way that even though there’s not much going on, it feels very intentional. Late summer outfit success!
Now I must know—when do you start burning your fall candles? Is now too soon…? Asking for me, your friend. 😉
