Easy Shorts for Spring and Summer

How to style Everlane Easy Shorts for spring and summer | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

It’s finally SHORTS weather!!!

—ope, just kidding. It was shorts weather, and now we’re back to chilly temperatures and (possibly?) rain. It’s trying to rain, at least. We need all the rain we can get! I’m trying to enjoy the chilly weather before the hot summer temps are here to stay for a while. I even have a Green Chef soup meal to eat this weekend! I’m quite nervous about this year’s wildfire season. It could be really bad because it’s so dry out west. Fingers crossed it won’t be as bad as predicted…

Anyway, let’s go back to when it was warm enough for shorts! Shorts weather will be back, after all.

The Everlane Easy Short

My most recent shorts addition is this striped pair from Everlane. They’re the Easy Short, made from a cotton twill fabric. (The same style is also available in denim but are nearly sold out!) They feature side pockets and an elastic (!) waistband. The style isn’t new this year, but it’s my first time trying them out! I ordered them in two colors—blue stripe (pictured here) and fern (a pretty, bright olive green)—and ended up keeping only the blue stripe because it seemed like the stripes would camouflage wrinkles better than a solid color. They do seem to be wrinkle prone. The blue stripe is almost sold out but the style is available in five other colorways, including fern.

My pre-pandemic size in Everlane was almost always 0, and I ordered the shorts in a 2. They don’t fit as loose as I was anticipating (lol); they’re somewhat snug around the hips, and I sort of wish I had tried a 4, too, but the 2 fits. I just hope they don’t shrink any! I debated about these shorts for a while because they’re longer than what I typically go for and the length feels overwhelming because I’m short. It just felt like a LOT of fabric. I ended up holding onto them because they’re different from everything else in my closet, and since I’m over 30, perhaps it’s time to wear more shorts with longer inseams. Ha.

I styled the shorts with my fun Elizabeth and Clarke Kimber cat tee for spring! This tee runs big; I ordered a size 0 and could have easily done 00. It’s a great size for doing a lil side tie. They recently dropped the price of the tee (it was originally $50 when I ordered it on Cyber Monday, and I got it for half off that price…) and lots of sizes are sold out already (I only see 4, 6, and 8 in stock now).

I tied the white stripes into the white embellished sandals, which also tie into the grey tee. Love when an outfit just ties together seemingly effortlessly! Now it just needs to warm up so I can wear this outfit (and my other pairs of shorts) again!
