Back in February, I shared my wardrobe plan for the year, and "add work-appropriate garments" was one of the items included in my plan. I specifically wanted to add more knee-length and longer skirts and dresses to wear in the spring and summer, so when Madewell released a trio of button-front midi skirts, I was all about them! Since I already have a striped midi, I debated between the "indigo" (more like a chambray) and this rust color. Indigo would have been the safe choice, but I ended up buying the rust after crowdsourcing on Instagram stories.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous when I first got the skirt, and I still kind of am...only because I'm not sure what to pair it with besides black and white! Any ideas? I love it with black and white stripes but I don't want to limit it to only those two colors! We had some gorgeous spring weather over the weekend which gave me the opportunity to wear it with a short-sleeved striped tee and sandals. Now I need to put my thinking cap on and come up with some other ways to wear it!

I'm still tempted to buy the skirt in indigo, too, only because it'd be a nice addition to my closet (and I know I'd wear that color probably more than this rust), but I'm not super keen on having "obvious" multiples. Does that make sense? Haha. I'm not sure that the buttons automatically make it unique, but still. I'm weird about that.

If you're looking to buy this skirt yourself, the reviews are kind of all over the place regarding sizing. I ended up buying it in my normal size, and it feels fine (almost loose) but looks a bit tight if you look at it in photos or in the mirror. I feel like button-front garments always look tight even if they're not, so that's a downside. (I also think tucking in the tee made it pucker a bit and fit tighter, but I'm not sure that it's enough to exchange for the next size up...) This skirt is also quite prone to wrinkles; I spent so long getting the folds out from shipping and then it got all wrinkled after sitting in the car, haha!
