14 Best Coffee Shops in Boise, Idaho

Boiseans take their coffee very seriously; there is no shortage of coffee shops to enjoy here! New local coffee shops are opening up constantly. We have a good mix of long-time roasters and hole-in-the-wall places to get your caffeine fix. If you’re looking for your next yummy cup of joe (do people still say that?! 😆) to enjoy while exploring the city of Boise, this post is for you!

As a long-time Boise resident myself, I rounded up 14 of the best coffee shops in Boise, Idaho. A number of these I’ve visited myself, and I also included a few other fan favorites and new spots on my list to try! My caveat is that I usually go for chai drinks and Korri opts for mochas (and sometimes espresso), so we don’t know how the regular coffee tastes at some of these spots, but I know friends and family can vouch for the other spots on this list.

These coffee shops are primarily located downtown but I added a few from other parts of the city, too. There is an interactive map at the end of the post so you can plan where to get your next cup of coffee! What coffee shop(s) in Boise do I need to try next?!

Let’s be friends on Instagram and Pinterest!

14 Best Coffee Shops in Boise, Idaho

A Café • 10th Street, Downtown Boise

a café is not just a coffee shop—it’s also a full restaurant! Anytime I go here, I have to get something to eat. (Their breakfast burritos are not to be missed!) That said, they have excellent coffee drinks and chai. Try the hippie chai if they have it! (I get it without espresso.) Plus, they have an indoor and outdoor seating area, and they open it up in the warmer months, making it the perfect spot to relax when the weather is nice.

Brewed • Barber Valley, Southeast Boise

Brewed is a new coffee shop in an area of town that was in desperate need of a new coffee shop ever since Locavore closed (which used to be one of my favorite brunch spots! 😢). Brewed opened across the river from Bown Crossing in Barber Valley in an area that has lots of development in progress. It’s a nice place to chill with a beautiful view of the foothills (for now, at least) and outdoor seating when it’s warm out.

Broadcast Coffee • 11th Street, Downtown Boise

Hailing from Seattle, Broadcast brought its fan-favorite coffee to Cherie Buckner-Webb Park in downtown Boise! (This is the park with the fun pink tree and benches!) I absolutely love this location just northwest of the main hustle of downtown Boise and across the street from The Record Exchange. It’s the perfect spot to work and enjoy the fresh air.

Certified Kitchen and Bakery • Hyde Park, North Boise

Certified Kitchen and Bakery is another coffee shop that also serves food (or restaurant that serves coffee, whichever way you want to look at it)—it’s one of the best brunch places in Boise! While I wholeheartedly recommend their breakfast options, it’s the perfect spot to drop in for a warm coffee drink if you’re in the Hyde Park area. I love their chai!

Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters • 8th Street, Downtown Boise

Dawson Taylor is a Boise mainstay and has been since 1995. I cannot remember a time when they weren’t in their little shop on 8th Street (as it turns out, they’ve been there since 2001)! It’s a popular local spot, especially on Saturday mornings when the Capital City Public Market is happening at the same time. Their coffee roasting headquarters on Lusk Street is open to the public for tours and features a fun coffee bar called Roast.

The District Coffee House • 10th and Bannock, Downtown Boise

The District Coffee House is another local coffee shop that has called downtown Boise home for years! The owners of Form and Function (more on that coffee shop below) purchased The District in 2018. It’s at such a great location in downtown Boise with ample indoor seating (a great spot to chill or work) and an outdoor patio. Food and non-coffee drinks are also available.

Dutch Bros • Various Locations

I wasn’t originally going to include Dutch Bros on this list because it’s an Oregon-based chain, but how can I not?! Korri and I have a soft spot for Dutch! It’s funny, when it first opened in Boise in 2012, I did not understand the hype. I get it now! 🤣 My go-to drinks are a blended chai with cinnamon sprinkles (and with pumpkin in the fall), strawberry frost (or pumpkin frost in the fall—tastes like egg nog with pumpkin), hot chai, hot chocolate, and hot chocolate with peppermint or spearmint.

Flying M Coffeehouse • 5th and Idaho, Downtown Boise

Flying M Coffee is a Boise staple located in a quieter part of downtown (they have additional locations in Nampa and Caldwell). Grab yourself a cup of their own speciality coffee and browse their cute gift shop for unique gifts! Their furniture and decor is quirky and full of character. Plus, there’s outdoor seating when the weather cooperates.

Form & Function • Broad Street, Downtown Boise

Form and Function is one of the best spots in Boise to grab a cup of coffee or chai (or whatever you coffee drink of choice is) and work! They have a beautiful, airy, and modern loft space. Plus, this is the Jonas Brothers’ favorite spot to grab coffee when they are in town. (They stopped here both times they were in Boise this year!) It’s next door to The Wylder, one of my favorite pizza places.

Java • Downtown Boise & North Boise

Head to Java for a cup of coffee brewed from their own fresh roasted coffee beans or for a matcha! They also offer a selection of baked goods and breakfast options from their kitchen. Java has two locations in Boise, one downtown at 6th and Idaho and one in Hyde Park in North Boise. You can also find Java in Hailey, Ketchum, and Twin Falls.

Mocha Moose • Bogus Basin Rd, North Boise

Mocha Moose is one of Korri’s and my favorite local coffee shops in Boise! I absolutely love their blended vanilla chai drinks, and Korri is a fan of their mochas. It’s the perfect pit stop on your way to or from Bogus Basin and features a drive-through if you can’t bear to leave your warm car and heated seats. The owners also run Mountain Timber in Meridian.

Push & Pour • Downtown Boise, Boise Bench, & Garden City

Push and Pour is a super cute local coffee shop with three locations in the Treasure Valley (two in Boise and one in Garden City), and you can often find them at the Boise Farmers Market. Their chai latte is delicious! They also offer their coffee beans for sale so you can make a perfect Push and Pour specialty coffee at home.

Slow by Slow • 8th Street, BoDo

If you’re looking for a super cute hole-in-the-wall place for coffee, Slow By Slow Coffee Bar is your spot! Located in BoDo (the downtown block with 8th Street and Broad Street at the center), Slow By Slow serves espresso shots as well as regular coffee drinks (americanos, macchiatos, cappucinos, lattes, mochas) at their coffee bar and is open seven days a week.

Zero Six Coffee Fix • Parkcenter Blvd, Southeast Boise

Zero Six is probably one of the quirkiest coffee shops you’ll ever see! It’s full of mismatched furniture and random thrift store finds (and the coolest handmade cloud lights). It’s located on Parkcenter Blvd next to The Griddle and Lemon Tree. Get the hot chai and asked for cinnamon to be steamed into the drink (if they don’t offer it when you order). It’s SO good. I’m obsessed and now need to drink my chai that way all the time!
