How to bookend your outfits | winter fashion inspiration | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Hi friends! Happy February! And happy Lunar New Year! It’s crazy that we’re already 1/12 of the way through the year. 😉 The biggest update since the January Currently post is that the college gymnastics season started. The halfway point of the regular season is coming up already. WHEW, time is flying! I’m also thrilled that it’s finally staying lighter out later in the evening and that spring is right around the corner.

I’ve been trying to come up with fun outfit ideas to get my creative juices flowing. We’re at that time of winter where I hate everything and keep wearing the same outfits over and over again. I recently shared what to wear when you’re over winter featuring a recent wardrobe addition; new items are always fun to style! This outfit here also features a somewhat recent wardrobe addition: my Quince $50 Mongolian cashmere crew (read my affordable cashmere review and comparison for more!).

I used a really fun style trick in this outfit: bookending! I wore an all-blue base (navy sweater, vintage blue skinny jeans, navy wool socks, navy coat) and capped it off on top with a light brown beanie and finished it on the bottom with winter boots in a similar brown color. The hat and boots act as outfit bookends that tie it all together; this trick makes your outfits look and feel more intentional! Have you used this style trick before?

I joined Anne’s currently link up this month to share what else I’m up to right now!

Currently | February 2022

loving: the fact that I’m officially starting my hybrid work schedule as of today! WOOHOO! 🥳 I’ll be working from home W/T/F and in the office Mondays and Tuesdays. I wasn’t expecting to get my new work laptop this past Monday, and now I gotta get my workspace all set up again and locate the extension cord(s) I was using last year, lol. I’m so excited to work with my kitties again!

making: hot chocolate with collagen! I started taking powdered collagen about a month ago on recommendation from my hairstylist, and I’ve not noticed anything different (yet?) but I do only have it every other day. It was weird the first day—there was no flavor, but it sort of acts as a thickener—and now I love the extra creaminess it adds! I use Keurig hot chocolate pods, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to go back to drinking them without the collagen because they can taste so watered down.

taking: a buuunch of blogging-related courses! I have a bad habit of buying courses, listening to a few lessons, and then not finishing them, so I made it a point to go through a couple this past month, and now I’m working on another one! It’s sort of frustrating to be on the mediocre/”nobody” end of the blogging spectrum after doing it for so many years (trying to figure out where the heck I went wrong and how to do it “right” now), but here we are. Hopefully these courses help me out! (I have come to realize that EVERYONE overvalues their “exclusive” Facebook group. Has any course-related Facebook group ever been helpful to you? I feel like I’m always the only one using them!)

wanting: more time in the day, but don’t we all? I need an extra few hours in order to get my house in order, read more (my TBR list is out of control; let’s be friends on StoryGraph!), finish blogging tasks prior to the middle of the night, do my normal job, hang out with Korri and the cats, watch college gymnastics…gah!

wondering: when the heck we’re going to use our tickets to Los Angeles. I won a couple of round-trip tickets in December 2019, which ended up being the worst timing ever because of the pandemic! We technically have the trip booked for this upcoming weekend, but I have nothing else booked for it, so I’ll be calling to reschedule it again (fingers crossed!). I think I’m most nervous about getting around LA; I don’t want to rent a car and drive, but I also don’t like Uber/Lyft and never use them. Tips, suggestions? That part is stressing me out the most! (Or maybe we just use the tickets to get to LA and then fly from there elsewhere? I wish so much that the pandemic wasn’t still raging, ugh.)

What are you currently up to?
