Link Love, vol. 16

Today marks the end of a long weekend for me, and I’m wishing right about now that I could rewind and do it all over again! I wasn’t as productive as I was hoping I would be (for some reason, all of my motivation disappears once the weekend hits…hmm), but I sure enjoyed the brain break. It’s nice to be able to take an extra day to chill before the craziness of the holidays hits. Thanksgiving is coming up quick! Have you been making plans? Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to post about this season. I normally don’t do a lot in terms of holiday-specific posts but am always open to suggestions. :)

  • Speaking of the holidays, as an atmospheric scientist who fields many questions about the weather and climate from unknowing strangers, here are six questions we are always asked—and how those questions should be rephrased—written by Dr. Marshall Shepherd for Forbes. (If there’s only one article you read from this post, make it this one!)

  • I’m sure this will come up this holiday season, too, since Korri and I have been together for close to 3.5 years with no pending nuptials: please stop asking me when I’m going to get married (via Refinery29). And if you’re wondering, we’d like to get married someday…but we’re not sure what that will look like quite yet. Traditional wedding? Destination wedding? Elope? Haven’t decided…

  • Did you see that Fran is blogging again?! I’ve missed her posts! She was one of the first bloggers I ever followed. Now she’s a DOCTOR (!), married, and has the most adorable daughter!

  • I highly recommend listening to Taylor Swift’s Tiny Desk Concert at NPR if you haven’t already. She sang three songs from Lover and a bonus song from Red! (Also: here’s Lizzo’s. Of course.)

  • I booked our trip to the Cook Islands after receiving an email from Scott’s Cheap Flights with a flight deal. Use this link to receive a 10% discount off a Premium membership to get all the flight deals right in your inbox (seriously, there are so many deals—the savings from booking just one trip will more than pay for the membership!).

  • Here’s a comprehensive list of stain solutions provided by the University of Illinois. Any and all stains that you could possibly think of are included on this list. Genius!

  • I shopped a little too much this quarter and am going to be over budget if I don’t sell some things, so I’ve been updating my Poshmark like crazy recently! Don’t forget: If you’re new to the app and create an account with my referral code, HURRICANEKIMI, you’ll get $5 credit to use on your first purchase (and I’ll get a credit, too).

  • Even though I’m trying to slow down the shopping right now, here are a few things I’m eyeing for the holidays (and beyond): the Teddy crewneck sweater by Everlane (also available in a v-neck; I don’t know which color I like best!), my favorite flannel Sunday shirt by Madewell (I already own it in burgundy and love the spruce color but sizes are limited), a ribbed beanie with faux fur pom-pom by J.Crew (I have this in black and want another color!), thin cable crew socks by Smartwool (staples in my fall/winter wardrobe), and the Italian Melton topcoat by Banana Republic (love this in camel—a classic!).
