Everlane white box tee, denim shorts, J.Crew black 'Cece' flats, utility jacket — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

We had a couple of beautiful yet windy summer-like days at the end of last week, which was the perfect opportunity to pull out the most basic of basics: a white tee, denim shorts, black ballet flats, and a utility jacket (which was only worn in the chilly morning; this outfit ended up being another variation of this outfit from last week). In hindsight, I should have saved this look for my upcoming spring/summer '16 signature look post, but I guess that just means I can wear a different basic-tee-and-shorts combination for that one. ;)

While I would pick sandals instead of flats if I wore this in the dead of summer, I really like the look of ballet flats with shorts, and I will gladly wear them until my feet need to breathe in the heat. I've worn the look here in the past: see this look from earlier this month, this look from last spring, and this look from a mild summer day two years ago.
