Cropped sweater, peplum top, high-rise jeans, black ballet flats -- Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

When I got this peplum top a year ago, I tried it on with this sweater, and OMG. Are these not MADE for each other?! I'm obsessed. This was one of those combinations I've been planning on featuring here since then but hadn't gotten around to it. Well, now is the time! I didn't know how to complete the outfit, but I opted to go with high-rise jeans because the peplum is short in the front. I originally tried it on with my shiny black oxfords, but they seemed too...clunky? I felt like they didn't complement the peplum well enough, so I wore simple ballet flats instead. The outfit then felt too plain as it was, so I finished the look with my fun world map necklace.

Are you guys excited for the Oscars this weekend? We are going to a party at our friends' house. I'll admit that I haven't seen any of the movies nominated except Joy and Star Wars. I really want to see The Martian and The Danish Girl. I've actually heard wonderful things about the book version of The Martian, so maybe I'll pick it up before seeing the movie (though I've heard they're both good!). I'm currently very slowly working through An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, and I have to say that this book isn't keeping my attention as well as his others did... I mean, I started it months ago!
