Alternative title: Everlane does it again.

It always feels like it takes me a few days to get back into the swing of wearing all of my clothes and taking regular outfit photos again after doing a style sudoku. I must admit, it’s super convenient to have all of the clothes I’m going to wear for two weeks already picked out. It makes getting ready in the morning so much easier and faster! I included these sandals in my style sudoku, but I had to write a separate post dedicated to them once that was over, because they’re just too good not to share.

If you follow other bloggers or Instagrammers that are loyal to Everlane, you’ve probably seen these sandals. It feels like everyone and their mom has a pair. Normally when that happens, I’m not a huge fan of trying out the item myself, but there are some things that make me more eager to try them when lots of other people rave about them…and these sandals are one of those things. (Other things I’ve wanted to try after seeing them on others: Summersalt swimsuits and Outdoor Voices activewear.)

I gave in and ordered these sandals, the Day Crossover Sandal, a month ago. My original order for my true size was cancelled, so I placed another order for the next half size up. Reviews are mixed as to whether one should size up or not. My feet are slightly wider than average, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try the next size up. I picked the rose color because it looked like it would blend into my skin tone.

I could not believe how comfortable they were straight out of the box. The reviews definitely don’t lie: the leather upper is seriously the softest I’ve ever felt. It’s like my feet are getting hugged every time I wear them! They don’t rub, so I haven’t had any blisters. They’re amazing. I thought at first that the next half size up was too big, but I’ve decided that I liked the little bit of extra length so my feet don’t feel like they’re falling off the back. Yes, the sole is quite flat, so I wouldn’t wear these to do a lot of walking, but they’re perfect for sitting at my desk all day or doing other casual strolls.

I’m not one to be like, “YOU MUST BUY THIS PRODUCT NOW! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!” because, well, it’s just a pair of shoes. There will always be another pair of shoes. But if you’ve been eyeing them yourself, just place the order. Try them! I didn’t want to love them and I do and now they’re the only pair of sandals I want to wear. I’m really hoping my feet don’t make the inner sole gross (ha) because I want them to stay pretty and perfect forever.

I guess my outfit is kind of fun, too, haha. I mixed it up with a little white monochrome to not distract too much from my sandals, and the sweater blazer provides shelter from the A/C chill and adds a little more color. There are a lot of textures that keep the outfit from looking too one-note. This feels very “fresh” for summer!

July Style Sudoku Recap

July Style Sudoku: 16 items, 14+ outfits — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

I wrapped up my July style sudoku last Saturday, so here’s the recap! For two weeks, I wore one of 14 outfits put together with the 16 items in my sudoku above, in which every row, column, and corner is an outfit (plus the diagonals…and a couple of other places if you're feeling ambitious). If you’ve been reading for a few months, you know I love putting together style sudokus because they're an excellent opportunity for me to stretch my closet, try new combinations, and remind me how much I already own (and love!). I did not do a shopping freeze this month, but I did try to be more mindful of my clothing purchases and remember my wardrobe plan.

I put together a dark color palette for my first sudoku back in January, and then lightened it up for my spring sudoku in April. The summer version included more light colors to go with the season. I included a bunch of different colors this time but still leaned heavily on shades of blue and beige/tan/brown. I loved mixing in the surplus greens and pink sandals. Everything worked well together, and I was surprised to find myself enjoying the two monochrome outfits. I originally tried to arrange this so I wouldn’t be wearing the green tee and green pants together, but I couldn’t get it how I wanted with that arrangement so I stuck with this.

Summer is hard because it’s so hot that layering isn’t really a thing I enjoy doing, but this arrangement with the blazer and cardigan worked out because I spent 10 of the 14 days at my desk in my often-freezing-cold office. It was difficult to select the other two “accessories” because it is summer, so I went with a hat and pair of earrings. The hat was probably the least useful of the items; it was nice to have on the weekends, but it was unnecessary to wear to work. I’m glad I picked a variety of different bottoms so my outfits didn’t all look exactly the same. Overall, it was another successful sudoku!

I only have one more style sudoku to go this year—the fall version, which will be happening in October! It’s going to be here before I know it.

Below you’ll find all of my outfits and where they landed on the sudoku, a widget at the end where you can shop the exact or similar items I wore, and a blank sudoku so you can make your own! Head on over to the original posts for more photos and details: outfits 1-5, outfits 6-10, and outfits 11-14. (Or you can directly click on the outfit photo you’re interested in below!)

July Style Sudoku: Outfits 11–14

I wrapped up my July style sudoku this past weekend, and goodness, this one felt like it really flew by compared to my past sudokus (catch the first five outfits here and outfits 6-10 here). The final four outfits are detailed below, and my recap post will be published on Wednesday!

OUTFIT 11 • Wednesday, July 17th

July Style Sudoku: Outfit 11 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Today was another unexciting day at the office! Since it was going to be the warmest remaining work day of the week, I opted to wear my final skirt outfit. This is typically what I think of when I think of a more “professional” work outfit, so it’d be perfect to wear for a conference or networking event. At first, I wasn’t quite sure that I would like the color combination of the beige blazer with the brown flats in any of my style sudoku outfits, but I don’t think they look bad together. Of course, the true star of the show is miss Rosie. ;)

July Style Sudoku: Outfit 12 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

It always happens that I get to the end of my sudoku and I realize I have to wear a couple of items in a row. It’s probably poor planning on my part, but I think some of it is the nature of the sudoku format. Since I didn’t want to wear my linen blazer two days in a row (I wore it on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), I decided that my chambray shirt would have to be worn two days in a row. First up was my chambray with this look: a relatively casual work outfit with my straight leg crops, cream cardigan, and navy sandals. It worked, so that’s all I can ask for!

July Style Sudoku: Outfit 13 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

I saved the second monochrome outfit for the last work day of my style sudoku. I’ve been wanting to pair my chambray shirt with my boyfriend jeans, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to wear them together in a relatively subtle way. Enter: the linen blazer…it helps to balance the look (and serve as an extra layer for the aggressive air conditioning). One of my coworkers complimented my outfit and the color palette, saying it was very calming. I have to agree; there is something about light blue and light tan/beige together that is pleasing to the eye.

OUTFIT 14 • Saturday, July 20th

July Style Sudoku: Outfit 14 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

The last day! Korri and I didn’t have anything planned for Saturday, so we spent most of the day at home. We went for a walk by the river in the late afternoon, right when the air was hottest (of course, haha). I wore this entire outfit because my hat shaded me from the sun and I wanted to see how the sandals would feel after a decently long walk. (I normally would wear sneakers.) My feet weren’t killing me by the end, so that’s a good thing! I also didn’t experience any blisters. Woo!

I ended up changing into my navy sandals, losing the hat, and adding my navy Lilly Pulitzer sweater (not in the sudoku) for a walk to the stadium to stand outside the Garth Brooks concert. We tried to get tickets but the ticket office was long closed (I wasn’t surprised since Garth was on stage by the time we got there). I changed my outfit just in case we had been able to get in. His stage was set “in the round” with screens on all sides, and you could see them from outside the stadium, so we joined a couple hundred people outside and watched/listened. It was a great show! ;)
