An Unexpected Way to Style a Floral Blouse
Last time I searched “floral blouse outfit” on Pinterest, all I could see for as long as I scrolled was essentially the same outfit: floral blouse + blue (or white) skinny jeans + pumps. (Side note: Most of those outfits were popular in like, 2013-2015. Has Pinterest really not updated their search to reflect current trends? Lol. This must be why my most recent pins get NO views whatsoever.)
When I bought this floral blouse from LOFT, I was tempted to style it the same way I always do, and the same way that everyone else always does: with the same skinny jeans I always reach for when trying something new (case in point: I tried this blouse with white skinny jeans first). I considered my dark indigo curvy Cali demi-boot jeans instead, which would’ve been a fun departure…but then I saw my slim demi-boot jeans in this sort of washed charcoal color, and I knew they were the one.
I know you might be like, “Really? You’re wearing jeans. That’s not THAT unexpected.” And I know. For me, and for Pinterest, the fact that my jeans are grey AND not the classic skinny silhouette makes this feel like an outfit I wouldn’t immediately think to put together. Blue and white floral lends itself well to either blue or white denim, but I wanted something different-slash-unexpected, and this is what I landed on. An outfit like this keeps me out of a spring style rut.
Of course, I didn’t go too crazy with the rest of the outfit. I chose metallic gold flats because darker flats weighed the whole outfit down (and I simply cannot bear to wear a heavy outfit in SPRING for crying out loud), and when I normally would’ve reached for coordinating gold earrings, I opted instead for fun white statement earrings. I really love how it all came together.
LOFT Floral Shirred Tie Neck Blouse
Every item in this outfit is a star, but let’s chat briefly about my newest wardrobe addition: the LOFT Floral Shirred Tie Neck Blouse, which is available in regular and petite sizes! As the name suggests, it features shirring along the neckline and a v-neck collar with ties. The 3/4-length blouson sleeves are on-trend and are finished with elastic cuffs. The fabric is a cotton/modal blend that is much more structured than I was expecting. It took a lot of effort to get the blouse to drape like it does in the photos, haha! It’s rather stiff. (But it is machine washable, so there’s that.)
It had been a minute since I bought anything from LOFT, so I wasn’t entirely sure what size to get, but I settled on petite small. I got small to make sure I had enough room for my broad shoulders, and I picked petite instead of regular so it wasn’t too long. It’s QUITE boxy, which I don’t mind, but I wanted to mention it. It’s hard to tell because I have it tucked in here. The length is great for tucking, especially into high-rise pants!
