The Most Comfortable Summer Sandal

How to style Everlane Day Crossover Sandals for summer | Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Alright, we are officially back to shorts weather. It has been HOT here in Idaho to say the least. It definitely feels like full-on summer. We could be flirting with highs around 110°F (43°C) in the next week or so and I am NOT. Ready. For. It. (Can you ever be ready for heat like that, though?) Please send cool thoughts! And all the ice cream!

One of my most recent summer purchases is this sun hat from Madewell. I wear hats all of the time but wanted something with more neck/back coverage that wasn’t my floppy straw hat (it’s super floppy and hard to wear bc of that). This packable sun hat was the perfect option! It seems to currently be sold out of this color but there is a cute gold pattern available via Zappos, and there’s also a similar bucket hat, if you’re into that trend (idk if I can do that one again!).

I think the real star of the show, though, is the sandals… I’ve dubbed them the most comfortable summer sandals (that I own, at least)!

The Everlane Day Crossover Sandal

Back in summer 2019, I ordered the first version of the day crossover sandal by Everlane in rose. They immediately shot to the top of my sandal collection, and I still reach for them all of the time because they’re comfy (even for being relatively flat) and the rose color blends into my skin tone pretty well and acts like a neutral.

Everlane released another version of the day crossover sandal last year, and I wasn’t impressed… mostly because they were made with an aggressive square toe, and I realized that I’m not at all a fan of the square toe trend. Why did that have to make a comeback? Anyway, I wasn’t really in need of another pair so it wasn’t that big of a deal.

Fast forward to this year and Everlane re-releases the day crossover sandal AGAIN but in a less aggressive, more rounded square toe. Now this is a square toe I can tolerate! I felt drawn towards the cream-colored sandal this time. I tried them on and knew immediately they weren’t going back, lol. They’re just as comfy as the originals! I took size 7.5 in both (only because I wasn’t able to try size my usual 7 in the pink pair) but I think either size would work! I don’t have to worry about my heels flopping over the edge in the 7.5, though, and that appears to be a common reviewer complaint.

Naturally, the sandals are almost completely sold out in all four colors, but it is still available in the golden brown color in a few sizes.

This outfit features a monochrome color palette with the matching sun hat, tank top, and sandals. I love a good creamy white in the summer! My straw bag adds some whimsy and much-needed color; I hadn’t pulled this bag out in a while and felt like bringing a little bit of the beach to Boise. (I would have also worn my tortoiseshell sunglasses but have misplaced them…surprise, surprise.)
