May Style Sudoku, At Home: Outfits 1–5

TGIF! Here are the first five outfits from my May style sudoku, at home edition. Following my previous style sudokus, I’m grouping the 14 outfits into three posts to be published after each group of outfits is worn. Below, you’ll find all the details on what I wore on each day, the activities for that day, and my thoughts on each outfit.

OUTFIT 1 • Sunday, May 10th

May Style Sudoku, At Home Edition: Outfit 1 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

I kicked off this month’s style sudoku on Mother’s Day. It was an absolutely gorgeous day—we hit a high of 85°F—so I broke out the bike shorts! It was my first time wearing them, and I’m not quite convinced that they’ll be a mainstay in my casual wardrobe, haha. They definitely feel more appropriate for workouts/bike rides.

Since today was the warmest day of the two weeks of my sudoku, I wore this outfit since it has the fewest layers/most bare skin. Korri and I went to my parents’ house for a Mother’s Day family get together in their backyard, sitting in seats 6+ feet from each other (and I had my mask as well). It was the first time we’ve hung out since mid-March. It cooled off quite a bit in the evening, so I kind of wish I had worn an outfit with another layer…

OUTFIT 2 • Monday, May 11th

May Style Sudoku, At Home Edition: Outfit 2 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

I did wear the same tee and shorts two days in a row… I wasn’t in Sunday’s outfit for long, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to repeat it since Monday was another warm day! The combined warm temperatures from Sunday and Monday made our house too warm all day long, and we couldn’t cool it down without the A/C (which we opted not to turn on), so we had all the fans on and I was too warm in the cardigan for most of the day. I wish I would have switched this outfit with Sunday’s outfit!

Anyway, it was your typical Monday working from home, with Rosie sitting on my lap every once in a while (but not that often because it was warm). Work is sooo much better with pets.

OUTFIT 3 • Tuesday, May 12th

May Style Sudoku, At Home Edition: Outfit 3 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Tuesday brought with it a few misty morning showers, and we happily welcomed the cool air into the house! I wore one of my new cardigans. In addition to leggings, I also panic bought some cardigans. I fell in love with the color of this cardigan, which is called kale. I can’t get enough of greens like this! It’s vibrant and adds a fun punch of color in my wardrobe.

I especially love the color combination of this outfit: kale green, light pink, and navy. The pink velvet baseball cap plays off the striped pink tee. It’s a color palette I plan to repeat after this, probably with regular denim jeans. It’s night and day different from my very neutral April style sudoku!

OUTFIT 4 • Wednesday, May 13th

May Style Sudoku, At Home Edition: Outfit 4 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

Wednesday was one of those perfect rainy spring days. It was cool and overcast all day, so I took it as an excuse to cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate while I worked. I’m enjoying the cooler spring days while they last! The cool days are especially nice since most of my style sudoku outfits include layers.

For this style sudoku, I knew I wanted to include a camel layer of some sort—either my cashmere cardigan or my sweater blazer. I ended up going with the sweater blazer because I had picked two other cardigans, and I wanted to challenge myself to style this sweater blazer since I don’t wear this one as much as my grey one. I love wearing it with striped tees underneath, and I’m especially loving it with this dark red striped tee!

OUTFIT 5 • Thursday, May 14th

May Style Sudoku, At Home Edition: Outfit 5 — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

I had to be up early for a meeting on Thursday, so I was extra thankful for this style challenge because that meant my outfit was basically already picked out for me!

It was another cool, showery day, and I very much appreciated the cardigan. As much as I am enjoying the navy leggings for something different, I find these full-length leggings to be more uncomfortable than my 7/8 length leggings (both are by Zella). The waistband digs into my stomach more, which is not the best feeling when sitting at my “desk” (kitchen table) all day working. I need to keep my eyes peeled for more colors in the 7/8 leggings!
