It’s been a minute since my previous link love post, which was shared way back in April! How is your holiday season going so far? Mine hasn’t been as relaxing as I wish it was. I’m trying not to overexert myself with too many activities, and I’ve been prioritizing time spent at home, but my house is so messy that it feels overwhelming. I really wish I had a week off of work (without taking paid leave) to clean and organize it. Sigh. I signed up for Apartment Therapy’s January Cure so I can really tackle the messiness come the new year. It’s amazing how out of control things can get—and there’s only two of us living here, ha!
I’ve been closely following the recent devastating fires in California. The LA Times wrote a great piece about how 150 people miraculously survived the Camp Fire in northern California. These stories are just heartbreaking and difficult to wrap my mind around.
Another survival story, this time about the Thai cave rescue that happened back in the summer (article via GQ). I didn’t fully grasp all of what happened until after I read this…and, wow. It’s truly amazing that the boys were saved.
Devastation due to our planet’s rapidly warming climate system will likely occur sooner than we thought, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (article via National Geographic).
Throwback to our trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last December! I’m happy to be home and soaking up all of the holiday season this year, but there is something to be said about a recharge in paradise. My next (very short) trip won’t be until February so I hope I don’t go stir crazy!
Andrea’s post about how she’s simplifying the holiday season resonated with me. I struggle with gift giving and battle internally between wanting to give amazing gifts (because I love giving things people love) and wanting to put the money spent towards something more meaningful.
I am absolutely amazed at how beautiful Tieka’s iPhone photos are in her post at the Christmas tree farm. They look 100x better than my DSLR photos!
Korri and I made and brought these vegan, gluten-free pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to Thanksgiving dinner. They tasted way better than I thought they would considering the lack of gluten, dairy, and egg (and they got high praise from others, too!).
Gifts I love to give (and receive): Aquis hair towel (I still love mine years later!), L.L.Bean wicked good moccasins for him (or for her), the Smartwool socks I wear all winter (and the no-show Smartwool socks I wear with ankle boots and sneakers), everyone’s favorite candle from Anthropologie, cozy sherpa throw blanket from Target (can never have enough blankets!).
