Fall is for layering

Utility jacket outfit with navy sweatshirt, lace top, black pants, navy flats — Cotton Cashmere Cat Hair

I don't want to beat a dead horse (because EVERY BLOGGER EVER talks about it, including me... #noshame), but seriously—the opportunity for layering at this time of year is my favorite. I could have just worn the utility jacket over a simple sweatshirt and pants outfit, but I love the texture added by the lace top. The sweatshirt and top kind of look like one piece, which I love! I'm so glad I found another way to winterize this top (I featured it in a season remix earlier this year).

This is another one of my typical "grad student" uniforms. It's simple, casual, and comfortable yet feels pulled together and not at all sloppy. Speaking of grad school, I'm still on track to graduate officially next summer! The first paper to make up my PhD is at the end of its peer review, and the second one will be submitted before the end of the year. After that, I need to write one more and I'll be set to defend! It's starting to get pretty busy around these parts with the holidays and conferences coming up so I'm just doing my best to not get overwhelmed with everything I need to do (and keep blogging!). :)
