Let's be real: Nothing is better than an A-line or shift dress for the occasions that call for eating ALL of the food. Amirite? I've avoided A-line dresses in the past, opting instead for the waist-nipping fit-and-flare dresses because, you know, we women are supposed to show off our curves, not hide them. Ha. Now, I opt for comfort almost always before anything else, and nothing is more comfortable than wearing a literal tent dress. It flares out from the bust down to the hem, which isn't the most flattering look, I'll admit, but it's the perfect shape for indulging at backyard BBQs (or a graduation party, in my case) and enjoying yourself without worrying about if your dress suddenly becomes a bit tight around the midsection. There's no such thing as too many BBQ ribs or potato chips, in my opinion.
This dress is made of linen, so it's perfect for hot summer days (but it does wrinkle quite a lot, as you would expect). It's also lined, so it's not at all sheer! The shoulder straps cut in, which is not a trend I like very much...but, I decided that if my bra was going to show, I was going to make it stand out, so I wore my Natori 'Feathers' bra in black that I picked up in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale a couple of years ago. Since this dress has a high neckline, a long pendant necklace works perfectly to complete the look. And did I mention this dress has POCKETS?! You probably noticed that already but just thought I'd remind you. :) This may be my go-to outfit for every casual party this summer!
