One of my childhood friends is getting married later this summer, and recently, a bunch of ladies got together for her bachelorette party! On the day of the planned evening downtown, the temperature soared to a toasty 102°F (~39°C). It wouldn't have felt so unbearably hot had we not been wearing black and spending the start of the night on a rooftop deck. ;) Thank goodness we were told to wear black, though; it masked the sweat pretty well! (The drinks helped to cool us down too, of course.)
As I mentioned, the bride requested that her "bride tribe" all wear black. I have exactly three all-black dresses in my closet, none of which are very seasonally-appropriate. (Though I could have also worn a black top with a black skirt.) I ended up picking this dress for its flirty shape and minimal coverage. I bought it last fall and wore it to a wedding in November with a wool coat to keep warm (definitely didn't need the wool coat now, though, ha!). I didn't want to put much thought into the rest of the look, opting instead for black everything. I wasn't sure how many bars I'd make it to since I had to bounce early, so I didn't want to wear one of my "nicer" pairs of shoes...just in case. The earrings were the perfect glam touch to top it all off.
I had such a fun time catching up with old friends and meeting some of the bride's closest friends from other times in her life. It's nice to just hang out with other ladies sometimes, you know? I need to do that more often!
